It’s just a matter of whether it’s in a formal educational setting with experienced instructors ready to help, or an informal one through the “school of hard knocks," alone. I took the latter route, and I must say, if you survive, it makes a great testimony. The Lord led me to start Charis Bible College for the purpose of training people for the work of the ministry. He wanted me to take a unique

approach; it had to be a combination of the rich teaching of God’s Word and practical, hands-on ministry experience. This was modeled in the Old Testament by Elijah and Elisha with the school of the prophets and in the New Testament when Paul told Timothy to train faithful men to teach others. With this combination, I knew our graduates would be able to avoid many of the problems and hardships I encountered; they would be well prepared. Whatever God is leading you to do, preparation is never a waste of time. Statistics show that 80% of ministers drop out of the ministry, and 80% of those who stay are on the verge of burnout. I believe the lack of preparation, spiritually, academically, and practically are at the root of these statistics. Charis Bible College instructors have accumulated decades of experience in ministry, and their experience may very well keep you from becoming a statistic. Two years of preparation is a small price to pay for a lifetime of successful ministry. If the Lord is speaking to you about attending CBC, visit our website and request a catalog. There's something about praising God in a storm that you'll never be able to experience in heaven.

In heaven, faith becomes sight, everything is perfect, and honestly, anyone can praise God when everything is going awesome. But praising Him in the middle of difficulty down here takes real faith, and that kind of praise has the power to shift everything. God isn't asking you to have it all together first. He's asking you to start praising Him right in the middle of it, and it'll do wonders for you.

You don't have to own every symptom that shows up.

Think about it this way: when you got born again, you didn't wake up the next morning with every single thought perfectly aligned with God's word. Contrary thoughts came, and you learned to take them captive. Symptoms work the same way.

Just because something shows up doesn't mean it belongs to you. You're the righteousness of God in Christ, and that changes how you respond to everything that tries to attach itself to your body. The next time something comes, you don't have to panic or accept it. You can look at it the same way you'd look at a contrary thought and say "that's not mine."

What if some of what you've been taught about getting older is actually unbelief?

Most people accept joint pain and physical decline as just a normal part of aging, but that acceptance might be doing more damage than it seems. You already have enough faith to be healed of anything. The issue is what's being pumped in alongside it on a constant basis. Get so focused on what God has said that there's no room for anything else to take root, and watch what happens.

What if your faith isn't the problem?

Most people go looking for more faith when things aren't working, but Jesus said a mustard seed amount is enough to cast a mountain into the sea. The real issue is what's sitting on the unbelief side of the equation. Drain that down to nothing and what you already have is more than enough to see mountains move, blind eyes open, and any sickness healed.
