‼️Surprise! We had some familiar faces from Sherwin-Williams come back for some fast learning...and they walked away with Gold-Level SACA certs!

Sandy, Enrique and Augustus made a return trip and made it through the C-208 PLC troubleshooting class.

The class is all about learning how to find problems in programmable logic controller systems and work through them step by step.

That meant using multimeters, PLC software and system indicators to figure out what was keeping the system from working the way it should.

Congrats to all three on coming back, sharpening their troubleshooting skills and adding another credential to the list.

Cargill workers are back for another round at The WorkSITE...but this time, it's something new 🤖

Joey, Chris, Russel and Josh make up the first round of Cargill employees to take our robotics class.

By the end, they'll know programming from scratch, safety, troubleshooting faults, and production operations.

They’ll also learn how the robot communicates with sensors, buttons and other equipment around it so the whole system can work together, much like a factory-floor setting.

🥇A WorkSITE first:

The CPT+ class brushed up on the band saw last week. They're the first group ever at the 'SITE to use it. 🪚

"Everybody has a band saw in their shop," says instructor Jerry Wilkey, noting that it's a staple especially in machine and fabrication shops.

The group learned how to operate the saw, where to keep their hands safe, and how to gear up with the right protective equipment.

It might not seem like a big deal, but it is a big saw, and for these students, it's worth knowing how to use it for their future production careers. ⚙

If you've been following our page for a bit. you've already seen how employees from Envases Group have skilled up at The WorkSITE.

But today, this is all about Envases in Waco. 🥫

Envases is an international packaging company expanding in town.

What they make comes right off this Central Texas production line, and into people's hands across the country.

Their Waco facility turns aluminum into drink cans for sodas, energy drinks, b**r and more. 🥤

Since opened in Waco in 2021, Envases is expanding again. This time, it's a lid-making factory bringing more local job opportunities in our town.

Thanks Envases for partnering with us in what we do and training for your workforce! 🔧

🏭 Pretty fitting way to spend Manufacturing Day.

Today, our industry and community partners gathered at The WorkSITE to talk about what local employers need and what we can do together to prepare more people for those careers across McLennan County.

It also happened to fall on The Manufacturing Institute's Manufacturing Day.

"Manufacturing is far more than making products," said WorkSITE Vice President Kacey Darnell, addressing the room of leaders. "It's the foundation that helps keep our economy moving, our communities thriving, and our country healthy, safe and prosperous."

As industries evolve, so do the careers within them.

With a growing need for skilled workers, highlights those who drive the future of manufacturing.

After four Fridays spent taking in everything workplace safety, a group of TSTC HVAC instructors are OSHA certified once again. 🎓

Much like the employees and developing workers we see at The WorkSITE, they'll take that knowledge back to where it matters and pass it on to others.

👋 Swingin' By the 'SITE 🏭

Wes Prosser with the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council spent a few days at The WorkSITE last week for an important part of launching the first Certified Production Technician Plus group. MSSC oversees the course content for CPT+.

He put instructors Jerry, James and Clayton to the test, making sure they're ready to finish teaching the program and know the ins and outs of the Skill Boss.

A big part of CPT+ is the Skill Boss, where students put classroom lessons into practice by operating the trainer and troubleshooting problems.

“They’re actually opening up the box and going into the equipment. Most programs don’t go to that degree,” Wes said, speaking on how hands-on the training gets.

His prediction?

“I would be shocked if we’re not having multiple success stories coming out of this program.” 👏⚙️

🤖 Without Fallas Automation, many students at The WorkSITE may not have the chance to build something better for their careers.

David and Valerie Fallas, are the team behind the company, which builds machines to help factories package and move products faster. They also helped us keep some classes free for our McLennan County neighbors with a $1 million gift for TSTC.

That donation helped make Mechatronics training happen here at The WorkSITE. It also funds scholarships for TSTC students in Drafting & Design and Robotics & Industrial Controls.

While the work is industry-led, it's WorkSITE-driven. We wouldn't be able to do it without our partnership with Fallas. ⚙
