Vocalist, Sarah Moldover, is from Sterling, Virginia. She has been a part of Wooster Chorus and the African Percussion Ensemble. Her favorite class in the Music Department was Introduction to Music Technology.

In Sarah’s words:

“My time at Wooster has been full of community, support, and so much learning. I have grown so much as a student, musician, and future music therapist. I am especially grateful for the meaningful friendships that I’ve gained both within and outside of the music program, and the numerous professional connections that I’ve made.

My plan is to attend grad school for some area within Computer Science, with the main goal being Audio Technolgy.

I plan to get a medical music therapy internship and then get my board certification, and I hope to eventually work as a medical music therapist in stroke recovery/rehab.”

Looking for a chance to slow down and take a meditative, art-oriented break amid the rush of finals week?

If so, I’d like to invite you to drop by Scheide Music Center, Room 106 (just off the main lobby) any time between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. during reading days:

Wednesday, May 6

Saturday, May 9

Sunday, May 10

Here I will be screening my most recent immersive multimedia piece, Reflections in the National Gallery, London. The installation—which adapts, alters, and remixes images from 400 artworks in the various rooms of the Gallery—features over 23 hours of visual and musical content playing continuously, but never in the same way twice.

Reflections has no set beginning or ending points; please feel free to come any time and stay for a minute or an hour—as you like!

The Scot Symphonic Band and The College of Wooster Pipe Band will perform in McGaw Chapel on Sunday, May 3 at 3:00 PM.

In addition to honoring our eighteen remarkable seniors, the Scot Symphonic Band concludes its exploration of America’s 250-year musical history with a reimagining of the traditional “All-American” band concert.

While the program offers a nostalgic nod to the turn-of-the-20th-century programming style made famous by John Philip Sousa and his Sousa Band, it also spotlights the ever-broadening diversity of the American compositional community.

The repertoire features works by Dennison Wheelock, George Gershwin, Dizzy Gillespie, and Michele Fernández, culminating in performances of Sousa’s The Stars and Stripes Forever and Omar Thomas’s powerful Of Our New Day Begun—a tribute to the nine lives lost to domestic terrorism at Charleston’s Mother Emanuel Church in 2015.

The concert is free and open to the public.

In addition to the outstanding Wooster Symphony Orchestra concert last night and Sunday’s Scot Symphonic Band with the Pipe Band concert, the Wooster Contemporary Chamber Ensemble will share its concert, “Hues and Saturation.”

The concert features music by composers Jessie Montgomery, Thanos Mikroutsikos, Juhi Bansal, Matthew Hindson, Mikhail Johnson, Roxanna Panufnik, and Dylan Findley. You’ll hear influences from jazz, hip-hop, Hindustani classical music, Baroque music, East European folk music, and more—a snapshot of the plurality of backgrounds and aesthetics embraced by composers today. We’ll also be celebrating 7 remarkable seniors, many of whom have been with us since our founding last academic year.
