More than 150 clinical trials are underway right now at UMass Chan Medical School for cancer patients.

“When you join the walk, you become part of something bigger than yourself. You are contributing to pushing life-changing discoveries forward and making them more accessible,” Chancellor David D. McManus, MD’02, ScM’12, MBA, said about the 28th annual walk in a personal video message.

Online mental health treatment can be just as effective as traditional in-person visits, Shari Harding, DNP, wrote in this opinion piece published in the Washington Post: https://direc.to/pQ1d

Dr. Harding, associate professor of nursing and psychiatry & behavioral sciences and the director of UMass Chan’s Doctor of Nursing Practice program, detailed the kinds of things to think about when searching for an online therapist and what to expect during the first appointment.

“It’s important to remember that mental health care should provide a specific treatment for a specific problem," Harding wrote.

Online treatment can be just as effective as traditional in-person visits, but certain strategies can help ensure the best outcome.
