What starts in Worcester can have an impact around the world 🌎🐾
Tom Angell ’20, a sixth-grade history teacher in Shrewsbury, spends his summer breaks here on his alma mater’s campus teaching American history and culture to cohorts of visiting students from the Buenos Aires-based Instituto San Román. But this year, he took his involvement to another level by making the more than 5,000 mile (one-way) trip all the way to Buenos Aires and the campus of Instituto San Román, where he guest taught in their classrooms for a week.
Each July, the Argentine school, which was also founded by the Augustinians of the Assumption, sends a group of students who are of similar age to American high school juniors to Worcester for the month of July, where they stay on campus, take classes in our academic buildings, and go on excursions to experience American life, history, and culture. It’s an educational partnership rooted in a shared Assumptionist tradition, connecting two schools on opposite sides of the globe through a commitment to education and community.
