About All Kinds of Growth

All Kinds of Growth aims to:

Help girls, trans-femme, non-binary, and gender queer youth recognize their own strength by providing them with a safe space to express, develop, find, and maintain their voice and identity. Foster understanding by bringing together local youth and Clark students from diverse class, ethnic, and racial backgrounds. All Kinds of Growth was sta

rted in 1998 in response to a community desire to create a space where generations of girls could foster positive growth through mentorship. The vision for this space was to provide a regular place where girls could openly explore their personal and political identities. Through positive interactions with others, the program aimed to support girls in developing a solid sense of self while simultaneously fostering a sense of self as important and powerful contributors to the formation of the evolving social world. In the spring of 2022, club members decided to change the name to reflect the entire diversity of the community it wanted to serve, with similar goals from the founding. With this, they switched their name to just AKOG for a short time, eliminating the gendered language from its title. That December, a new name was chosen to reflect the goals of the program, not the gendered history. With this, All Kinds of Growth became the official name, a title that reflects the goals to help girls, trans-femme, non-binary, and gender queer youth grow as people, with women, non-binary, and gender queer mentors that have a passion to aid in this growth. Description of AKOG

Each week activities are planned around a theme, often collaborating with other clubs at Clark. Themes include entrepreneurship, dance, wellness, self-love, science, lip-syncing and singing, athletics, art, and much more! Each theme is designed to invite mentees to explore their own identity, and their relationships with themselves and others, and to help them to become stronger, more active, and knowledgeable members of society. AKOG meets for 15 to 17 weeks at Atwood Hall at Clark University, from 11 AM to 1 PM during the Clark school year (except for Clark school breaks). Registration is required but may be completed at any point during the year.
