Flashback - A picture of the beginning of the permaculture garden addition at Elm Park in 2018 with the planting of some fruit trees with a group of students. Then rhubarb, strawberries and more added. After revisiting the school for meetings and short term programs on the invite by Mary Keefe, Kim Pond UMass Extension 4-H Educator who is also Master Gardener through URI worked with the school, REC and community for several years to get the forgotten garden cleaned and expanded. Happy to have community member Ellen take over and the church get involved.

Let’s cheer them on! Excited to have some coming to lead the robotics track at Explore UMass teaching micro-bits and they will be back at our Family STEM Day 11/7 teaching several workshops.

As we celebrate International Heritage Breeds Month and 250 years of American history, we’re honoring the breeds that helped build our nation.

Before modern agriculture, heritage breeds plowed fields, provided food and fiber and shaped life on farms across the country.

Happy World Dracula Day! While vampires are fictional, bats are often linked to vampire legends but they are much more fascinating than folklore suggests.

Meet the little brown bat, a species native to the northern United States and Canada. Despite its spooky reputation in pop culture, this tiny insect-eater has no interest in blood. Instead, it plays a vital role in our ecosystems by consuming thousands of insects each night. Like all bats, the little brown bat has wings made of a thin membrane stretched over elongated finger bones-an incredible adaptation for flight. Bats also navigate and hunt using echolocation, emitting sound waves to “see” their environment in the dark.

So this World Dracula Day, look past the myths and celebrate the real nighttime heroes of the animal world!

Hit that share button! Another SpaceX rocket launch 🚀 is scheduled to lift off Thursday morning at 5:26 AMAM. It should be a great show with the sunrise happening roughly 3 minutes later. The fumes will look illuminated!
