Assistant Professor Jon Longest received the Bounds Distinguished Teaching Award for 2026-28. In accepting the award, Mr. Longest told listeners he was uncomfortable standing at the podium and speaking to a large audience. That discomfort, though, is a critical part of growth and positive change, he said. “Learning new concepts can be uncomfortable. But those are exactly the moments where something changes. At Commencement, Zoe Markovic, 19, of Rock Hall, received the John T. Harrison Award, Chesapeake’s highest student honor. In her address, she urged her classmates to celebrate their academic accomplishments and appreciate relationships they formed during their time at Chesapeake. “We are comforted because we’ll leave with all of the valuable things Chesapeake has given to us.
