Key Milestones in Royal Arch History
1740s: The earliest verifiable written and practical traces of Royal Arch Masonry emerge in Ireland during Dublin processions.
1756: Laurence Dermott, Grand Secretary of the "Antients" Grand Lodge in England, famously championed the degree as the "root, heart and marrow of Masonry" in his book Ahiman Rezon.
1797: Royal Arch Masons met in Hartford, Connecticut, taking a major step toward organizing regional and national governance in the United States (which later evolved into the General Grand Chapter, Royal Arch Masons International).
1813: The historic union of the Antients and Moderns in England officially recognized the Royal Arch as the vital completion of "pure, antient Masonry".
