What a memorable Juneteenth experience for our YC-LLI members!

We were honored to begin our visit at the historic Mifflin Farm with Peter Miele, who provided a fascinating overview of the property. Despite an exceptionally busy weekend of events at the Mifflin House, Pete graciously welcomed our group and shared exciting plans for the future, including a transformative $5 million project to restore the barn and expand the site with a new art museum.

Following the tour, Gettysburg student intern Brayden Danbury led us on a walk across the property, bringing history to life as he recounted the successful Civil War engagement fought there on June 20, 1863—just days before the Battle of Gettysburg.

A heartfelt thank-you to Peter and Brayden for sharing their knowledge, passion, and time with our members. Experiences like these remind us that history is best understood when we can walk the very ground where it happened.

Laughter, strategy, and friendly competition, that's what the YC-LLI Games Club is all about!

Every other Thursday at 1:00 p.m., members gather at the West Campus Community Center for two hours of fun and fellowship. Best of all, members choose the games, so every meetup offers something new.

It looks a lot like creativity, conversation, and community.

Every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to noon, members gather with their craft of choice, watercolors, knitting, card-making, quilting, and more. While everyone works on their own project, the real magic happens through the sharing of ideas, inspiration, and friendship.

Whether you're an experienced artist or simply enjoy creating, the Craft Club is a welcoming space. Pull up a chair and join us on Tuesdays!

At YC-LLI, learning goes beyond the subject matter, it's about learning directly from the exceptional faculty of York College. Our members have the unique opportunity to engage, in person, with accomplished professors, researchers, and subject-matter experts who bring their knowledge and passion into the classroom.

Take Dr. Rory Kraft, whose course, It's Complicated: S*x, Gender, and the Limits of What We Were Taught, challenged assumptions and inspired participants to explore new perspectives. Experiences like these are what make YC-LLI special.
