The YC-LLI Walking Club hit the Seven Valleys Rail Trail for a round-trip walk to Hanover Junction, starting in foggy, humid conditions and finishing under sunny, humid skies!

Back in Seven Valleys, the group split up to enjoy a well-deserved treat. Our w**e enthusiasts headed to Four Springs Winery for w**e tasting and cheese plates, while the others made their way to Valley Tavern for lunch, famous for its broasted chicken.

Our Booster Committee Chair and dedicated volunteer, Joan Caruso, spent Monday morning at the York JCC’s Healthy Aging Expo, sharing information about the many opportunities available at YC-LLI. As a new initiative in our community, events like this are a wonderful opportunity to spread the word about LLI and connect with people who may not yet know about us.

Frank and Rebecca Countess generously welcomed LLI members to CGA Law Firm for an exclusive viewing of their collection of York County maps and deeds dating from 1750 to 1930. One participant shared, “This went beyond all expectations!!! Frank and Rebecca were most generous with their time, archives, and knowledge.”

YC-LLI is grateful to the Countesses for sharing their remarkable collection and knowledge of York County’s history with our members.

If you haven’t visited the new Crispus Attucks History and Culture Center in York, it is well worth a visit!

More than a traditional museum, the Center is a living history experience that shares both the struggles and triumphs of York’s Black community. It invites visitors to confront difficult truths, find inspiration, and reflect on our past, present, and future.

YC-LLI appreciates the personal tour and the opportunity to learn more about this important part of York’s history. We look forward to returning soon!

LLI members recently participated in an Idea Rally with our three Graham Center for Collaboration and Innovation (GCCI) Fellows, Liv, Haelee, and Alvina. The event launched an exciting project focused on developing a framework for how YCP students and LLI members can engage with one another on a consistent basis.

A key goal of the Idea Rally was to solicit feedback directly from LLI members, learning what types of intergenerational experiences are meaningful to them, what opportunities they would enjoy, and how we can create connections that benefit both students and members.

This was just the beginning of the conversation, and we’re excited to see where these ideas lead!

Hollywood Classic Movies at YC-LLI!

Taught by Rich Santel, our Hollywood Classics series is more than just watching a great film! LLI members learn about the history and stories behind each classic movie before settling in to watch it together.

And the fun doesn’t end when the credits roll! Members often extend the camaraderie by heading out to dinner together, making it a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a classic film, share conversation, and build friendships along the way.

LLI members enjoyed a fascinating day exploring Lancaster’s art and history!

The group toured the Demuth Museum of Art and Demuth Family To***co Shop, learning about the Demuth family, Charles Demuth, and their lasting connection to Lancaster. Members also visited the Lancaster Museum of Art to explore the Strictly Functional Pottery National exhibition.

A wonderful opportunity to experience local art, history, and culture right in our own backyard!

What a great day at YCP Homecoming!

YC-LLI members were happy to be part of the celebration, helping Homecoming attendees with the coloring of birthday cards for the York County Food Bank.

There was so much happening throughout campus for YCP students, alumni, families, and friends. It was wonderful to see so many people coming together, LLI was glad to play a small part in making the day special!
