What an awesomely amazing day to be an AKA!

Today the officers and members of Alpha Beta Chi Omega Chapter went "ALL IN" for our chapter retreat with the theme: "VIVA Las Vegas"!!

We began the day with a sisterly activity to center ourselves with affirmations and sharing our FOCUS and/SELF CARE cards. "HIGH STAKES": Our Leadership Development Chairman, Kathy Littlejohn Charles, led us through leadership basics with a pop quiz and Q&A session on chapter officers roles.

"ALL IN": Our NextGen Committee Nylani Powell and Vita Fitch, guided us through creating vision boards that represented where ABXO has excelled and where we need to go in the future.

"THE BET": We were honored to have Victoria Thomas, of Delta Rho Omega Chapter in Brooklyn, NY and former Cluster III Co-Coordinator, share her expertise on preparing for and creating a chapter foundation! What an awesome presentation filled with sisterly tips and PA specific details!

Our Program Chairman, Karen Rollins-Fitch, shared details of our service project and Sorors got to work. We donated and packed 90+ "emergency" diaper packs with diapers and travel-sized wipes for those in the community that may need a quick supply. Our hearts were filled understanding the impact we'd make in real time in someone's life!

"THE TILL": We talked all things fundraising led by our Fundraising Committee Chairman, Andrea Berry-Brown.

Our day concluded with the "JACKPOT" preview of the International Program Targets as we prepare for our upcoming Program Bootcamp!

It was a day of intention, of sisterhood, of service, of love! Thank you for showing up and showing out! As I shared during my welcome... "the bet is on us and I am ALL IN!"🩷💚

Service is what we DO! Even while on summer recess 😉

Yesterday, members of Alpha Beta Chi Omega Chapter were on hand to help distribute over 12,000 lbs of fresh produce to the York community during the annual York City Back 2 School event at William Penn Senior High School!

Inside, members of the other D9 organization, as well as community partners distributed needed backpacks and school supplies, offered free haircuts, and other resources.

Outside, Highmark Wholecare sponsored free food bags to the families and community residents. ABXO was proud to volunteer along with the Latino Connection, Inc. and The Links Incorporated, Harrisburg Chapter. Over 500 bags of food were distributed to City residents! Even York City Schools Superintendent (and our ABXO Chapter Sister) Dr. Andrea Berry-Brown and York City Mayor, the Honorable Sandie Walker, were on hand to assist!

Today ABXO celebrates Arbor Day! 🌲🌳

ABXO highlights Penn Park, the first public park founded in York, Pennsylvania, in 1816.

Penn Park served as a location for a large US Army Hospital during the Civil War (1862 to 1865), a place for newly freed slaves to stop when traveling in the mid-1800s, and a spot for activists and protesters to come together (during the 1960s after Martin Luther King Jr’s assassination and again in 2020 after George Floyd’s death). This park also honors veterans such as Vietnam Veteran Sgt. Calvin Charles Rice Jr. Outside of being an early York Fair location site, the park hosted the “10,000 Acts of Kindness Festival” in 2019.

With over 210 years in existence, Penn Park, home to various community and sporting events, remains a gathering place for people of all ages and backgrounds in the greater York Community.
