The BSW program is a generalist degree that covers a variety of disciplines related to the social work field. These disciplines include social justice and change, empowerment, diversity, social policy, and working with clients at the micro, mezzo, or macro level of social work. m at Eastern Michigan University prepares students for advanced generalist practice as carried out in three fields of practice: family and children's services, mental health and substance use recovery services, or health and aging services. It currently serves approximately 250 students who are primarily experienced social workers, bachelor of social work graduates, human service administrators, or persons embarking on a career change from the greater southeast Michigan region, northern Ohio, Ontario, and central Michigan areas. At its core, Social Work requires a passion for helping people and a commitment to social justice. Our graduates help people and communities tackle problems rooted in poverty, racism, ageism, violence, or illness. Social workers serve people of every age and background as they script new futures for themselves. At Eastern Michigan, we strive to promote social well-being and affect positive change.
