We recently captured our students from the new Paramedic class doing group work and practical exercises pertaining to patient assessment. 🚑
The flip chart exercises focused on differential diagnoses of similar presenting conditions, such as asthma versus heart failure and appendicitis versus ruptured ovarian cysts. The students drilled down with questioning, and by understanding the pathophysiology of presenting conditions, the Paramedic students were then able to develop a treatment plan.
Other exercises included documenting and determining if a patient would be considered "stable" or "unstable" from the information provided. All of the exercises promoted communication and critical thinking among the members. 📝🗣
