A conference designed for obstetric and pediatric physicians, nurses, midwives, lecturers, educators, psychologists, as well as individuals who are planning to start a family, preparing for pregnancy, currently pregnant, or caring for infants under 12 months of age.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS EXPERIENCE AN “ECO-JOURNEY” AT CU LAO CHAM

Recently, Phan Chau Trinh University (PCTU) organized an extracurricular program titled “Discovering Cu Lao Cham – An Eco-Journey” for international students currently studying and undertaking internships at the university.

The activity was conducted as part of PCTU’s international cooperation and student exchange program, aiming to provide students with opportunities to further explore Vietnamese culture, local life, and nature alongside their professional training at the Phan Chau Trinh Institute – School of Medicine.

The program welcomed 31 international students from various countries who are currently interning at PCTU. More than just a chance to explore the beautiful coastal nature of Central Vietnam, the trip also created opportunities for cultural exchange and strengthened connections between international students and the local learning environment and community life.

Cu Lao Cham is an archipelago consisting of eight islands located in Tan Hiep Commune, Da Nang City, approximately 15 kilometers from the mainland. In 2009, UNESCO recognized the area as a World Biosphere Reserve thanks to its diverse marine ecosystem and distinctive natural and cultural values.
The islands are well known for their rich marine biodiversity, crystal-clear beaches, colorful coral reefs, and the unique cultural identity of local fishing communities. Beyond being an attractive eco-tourism destination, Cu Lao Cham is also recognized for its environmental and marine conservation efforts.
During the journey, students participated in a variety of hands-on activities, including:

🏝️ Visiting famous attractions on Cu Lao Cham such as Hai Tang Pagoda, the ancient Cham well, and the marine protected area.
🤿 Experiencing coral diving activities to explore the diverse marine ecosystem while raising awareness about environmental protection.
🎉 Joining cultural exchange activities, team-building sessions, and beach games.
🍽️ Enjoying fresh seafood and local specialties to better understand the culture of Vietnam’s coastal communities.

Through meaningful experiential activities, PCTU continues to foster a dynamic, multicultural, and practice-oriented learning environment, providing students with more opportunities to learn, explore, and develop comprehensively throughout their study journey in Vietnam.

5 NURSING STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN 2 SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH PROJECTS

On the occasion of International Nurses Day, congratulations to the 2 scientific research projects conducted by 5 Nursing students from Phan Chau Trinh University that have been approved by the Scientific Council and the Biomedical Research Ethics Committee, and are currently being implemented, with expected publication by the end of 2026.

The two research projects include:
📌 “The prevalence of fall risk and related factors among elderly inpatients at the Phan Chau Trinh Medical University – Hospital system in 2026”
📌 “Describing the knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding antibiotic use and related factors among residents of Ben Giang Commune in 2026”

A PIECE OF SHRAPNEL REMAINED IN A VETERAN’S BODY FOR MORE THAN 60 YEARS

More than half a lifetime has passed, yet the veteran still carried a fragment of war inside his body.

Recently, Phan Chau Trinh University of Medicine Hospital received a nearly 90-year-old war veteran suffering from persistent neck pain. After examination and diagnosis, doctors discovered that a piece of shrapnel from the resistance war against the United States had remained inside his body, silently existing there for more than 60 years.

⏳ For over half a century, the fragment lay still like a memory that never left the old soldier’s body.

Until now, when the pain returned, quietly reminding everyone of a time of bombs and gunfire — of the youthful years that an entire generation left behind on the battlefield.

The surgery itself did not last long, but the moment the small metal fragment was removed left the entire medical team speechless.

Because it was not merely a piece of metal.

It was a trace of war.
Of blood and sacrifice.
Of the youth of a soldier who endured the harsh years of conflict so that future generations could live in peace today.

🕊️ We grow up in peaceful times, yet there are people who have carried the remnants of war within their bodies for more than 60 years to protect that very peace.
