🎯Canada Day

🪂On the occasion of Canada Day on July 1, 2024, International School would like to extend our warmest congratulations to our Canadian lecturers. May the blessings of God keep you and your beloved ones happy and healthy on this special day and always.
Canada Day, celebrated annually on July 1st, marks the anniversary of the confederation of Canada. On this day in 1867, the British North America Act (now known as the Constitution Act, 1867) united the colonies of Canada (Ontario and Quebec), New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia into a single Dominion within the British Empire. This event is considered the birth of modern Canada.

This act established Canada's federal structure and parliamentary system. The holiday was originally called Dominion Day but was renamed Canada Day in 1982 to reflect a more modern and inclusive national identity. The day commemorates the confederation of Canada and its subsequent growth and independence, culminating in the patriation of the Constitution in 1982.

Canada Day is a national holiday featuring various festivities, including parades, fireworks, concerts, and cultural displays. People celebrate with family gatherings, barbecues, and public events that reflect Canadian pride and heritage. The day is an opportunity for Canadians to express their national identity and celebrate their history and achievements.

🌎VNU-IS students attend the 4th P4G Summit
🌟Forty-five Vietnamese and international VNU-IS students had the honor of attending the 4th Summit of the Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G), which officially opened on the afternoon of April 16. The event gathered more than 1,000 delegates from over 40 countries and international organizations. This marks the first time Vietnam has hosted the P4G Summit—an important multilateral event dedicated to green growth.

✨Launched in 2017 as an initiative of the Danish Government, the P4G Forum focuses its partnerships on five priority areas: reducing food loss and waste, climate-smart agriculture, sustainable water, renewable energy, and zero-emission transportation.

☀️With strong foreign language skills, confidence, and dynamism, VNU-IS students are always eager to participate in international forums, summits, and exchange programs. These platforms provide valuable opportunities to enhance communication skills, critical thinking, and cross-cultural teamwork. They also help students expand their global networks, gain clearer career direction, and improve their competitiveness in the global job market.

🌟In September 2024, the Overseas Immersion Programme (OIP) took place just after the harsh aftermath of Typhoon Yagi. The delegation of students from Ngee Ann Polytechnic arrived in Hanoi right after the storm had passed, with the city still experiencing continuous rain and streets left in disarray. Initially unfamiliar with the challenging weather conditions, the Singaporean students quickly adapted with the support of their Vietnamese peers and actively participated in various activities.
🌺During their stay, the Ngee Ann Polytechnic students explored historical and cultural landmarks, visited businesses, engaged in discussions with Vietnamese lecturers, and immersed themselves in Vietnam’s rich culinary scene, particularly Hanoi’s diverse flavors. Thanks to the dedicated guidance of the International School’s tour guides, they gained deeper insights into Vietnamese culture and traditions. Through hands-on experiences in the bustling streets of Hanoi, they also learned about local youth’s favorite pastimes, dining preferences, and popular leisure destinations.

🌼OIP: Unforgettable Experiences
💥The Overseas Immersion Programme (OIP) is a cultural exchange and real-world experience program designed for Singaporean students. In 2023, the International School and Ngee Ann Polytechnic collaborated to organize two OIP programs in March and September.
🌿OIP 2023 was truly a remarkable journey, offering Singaporean students the opportunity to savor traditional Vietnamese cuisine, explore the country's history and culture, and connect with its people. The 10-day exchange program left a lasting impression, reshaping their perspectives on Vietnam and its people. Most notably, they were deeply impressed by the students of the International School—friendly, hospitable, knowledgeable, and always willing to help.
☀️The program not only broadened their horizons but also strengthened the bond between students from both nations. Let’s look back at the unforgettable moments of OIP 2023!

🌿OELP: Ready to welcome Singaporean students

🌿To prepare for the 2025 Overseas Education and Learning Programme (OELP) cultural exchange between the International School and Nanyang Polytechnic, a selection process was held to choose 28 outstanding students. A total of 58 students registered for the program, with 36 meeting the eligibility criteria for the interview. After two days of interviews, the organizing committee selected 28 candidates to participate in the exchange program.
🌿The 28 selected students from the International School participated in a training session before the exchange program. The session provided valuable information to help them prepare thoroughly for the upcoming cultural exchange.
In the coming days, these students will take on the role of hosts, welcoming distinguished guests from Singapore. As representatives of the school, they are expected to embody hospitality, warmth, and attentiveness. The International School hopes that the students will fulfill their responsibilities , leaving a lasting and positive impression on their Singaporean counterparts.
🌿OELP is a hands-on exchange program designed for students from Nanyang Polytechnic. Through study and cultural exchanges in various countries worldwide, Singaporean students gain valuable insights into the culture, history, and people of the destinations they visit.

🌟 Strengthening cooperation with Canadian universities

✨On February 19, 2025, representatives from the Embassy and Consulate General of Canada in Vietnam visited and held working discussions at the International School, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

✨Consulate General of Canada in Vietnam expressed great pleasure in visiting and working with the International School. Through the meeting, the delegation gained insight into the school’s priorities and areas of interest, which will help in connecting it with suitable Canadian partners. The representatives noted that educational cooperation between Vietnam and Canada has flourished in recent years, with many Vietnamese universities establishing joint training programs with Canadian universities.

✨The delegation also introduced the SEED scholarship program, a Canadian government-funded academic exchange initiative for Southeast Asian students. Under this program, ASEAN students pursuing short-term studies or research at Canadian universities receive financial support for tuition, living expenses, and travel for one to two semesters. The delegation affirmed that they would carefully consider the school’s aspirations and introduce suitable Canadian universities for collaboration.

✨As one of the top destinations for international students, Canada boasts a high-quality education system. It is among the top three countries globally in terms of per capita investment in education. The country offers both public and private education systems, with the majority of universities being public institutions, ensuring consistently high educational standards nationwide.

🧶Strengthening Cooperation with Japanese Enterprises
🍀On February 11, 2024, Dr. Nguyen Quang Thuan, Vice Rector of the International School – Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-IS), held a working session with the General Director of CO-WELL Asia Co., Ltd., and the Chairman of Brainpad Inc.
🌿During the meeting, representatives from both sides discussed and explored potential future collaborations.
The International School expressed its expectation for CO-WELL Asia and Brainpad Inc. to send experts to lecture at the school, organize company visits, internships, and field trips for students, and conduct specialized training programs in IT and cybersecurity. Vice Rector Nguyen Quang Thuan emphasized that the school is committed to developing high-quality human resources in Business Data Analytics and Applied Information Technology. CO-WELL Asia and Brainpad Inc., in turn, could benefit from recruiting skilled graduates from the school.
📌 A representative from CO-WELL Asia affirmed the company’s willingness to offer free Japanese language training for students, helping them access job opportunities in Japan. Regarding specialized training programs, both companies plan to develop tailored courses suited to the needs of VNU-IS students. Additionally, in the near future, CO-WELL Asia will provide recruitment information, scholarships, and various support programs for students at the International School.
🌿Both parties expressed their commitment to launching meaningful programs and activities for students throughout 2025.

✈️131 dual degree program students departed for the U.S. and Malaysia
⚡️At the end of January and early February, 131 dual degree program students in Management and Marketing arrived in the U.S. and Malaysia to begin their fifth and sixth semesters at Keuka College and HELP University.
📌The students in dual degree program in Management reached Keuka Lake before the Lunar New Year and have officially started their new semester. Meanwhile, Marketing, those in Marketing departed this morning, February 5, with great excitement as they embark on their new academic journey in Malaysia.
🌿Wishing all fourth-cohort dual degree students a meaningful academic journey, a smooth transition into their new environment, and an active approach to building international friendships.
☘️Throughout their academic journey, students in the dual-degree program receive continuous support from partner institutions such as Keuka College and HELP University. Every year, delegations from both universities visited and engage with the students, actively learn about their feedback and aspirations. These visits allow timely adjustments to be made to address any shortcomings in the training process, ensuring a high-quality educational experience.
