🚀 EP20 Discovery & Modeling Workshop Series
From Challenges to Models, Data & Decisions
The Smart Logistics and Supply Chain Management Laboratory (SLSCM Lab) invites students to join a new workshop series designed to help you better understand Logistics Technology and Supply Chain Management (EP20) — and explore how modern supply chains are being transformed by data, optimization, and artificial intelligence.
🌍 What is EP20 really about?
Logistics and supply chain management today goes far beyond transportation and warehousing. Modern supply chains involve complex decisions such as:
• Where should facilities be located?
• How should vehicles be routed?
• How much inventory should a company hold?
• How can demand be forecast?
• How should production and transportation be coordinated?
• How can data and AI support better decisions?
The opening session will introduce the broader landscape of EP20, including:
🔹 What you will study in the EP20 program
🔹 How modern logistics and supply chains operate
🔹 Global trends in logistics, technology, analytics, and AI
🔹 The roles of Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Operations Research, and Optimization
🔹 Applications in transportation, warehousing, inventory, production, e-commerce, and supply chain planning
🔹 Career opportunities in logistics, supply chain management, analytics, optimization, technology, and consulting
🔹 Master's and PhD opportunities in Vietnam and abroad
🔹 Undergraduate research, competitions, projects, and opportunities to work with SLSCM Lab
📐 From Problems to Models
The following workshops will move from exploration to hands-on modeling.
Participants will learn how to transform real-world problems into mathematical and computational models through the process:
Real-world Problem → Mathematical Model → Computational Solution → Decision
Topics will include:
• Introduction to mathematical modeling
• Decision variables, objective functions, and constraints
• Basic linear and integer optimization models
• Modeling fundamental logistics and supply chain problems
• Introduction to optimization and modeling tools
• Implementing simple models using programming
• Solving models and interpreting computational results
💻 Recommended background
No previous knowledge of Operations Research or mathematical optimization is required.
Participants should have:
• Basic programming skills
• Basic mathematical reasoning
• Basic knowledge of Linear Algebra
• Curiosity about using mathematics, data, algorithms, and AI to solve real-world problems
🎓 Who should join?
The series is particularly suitable for EP20 students, especially those in the early stages of the program who want to understand what they are learning, where the field is heading, and what academic and career opportunities may follow.
Students interested in logistics, supply chain management, optimization, data science, artificial intelligence, and quantitative decision-making are also welcome.
Understand the field. Learn to model. Build the tools to solve real-world supply chain problems.
