One of the most memorable hands-on experiences of the SDG Summer School in Vietnam 2026 was the Eco-Printing Workshop on July 13, where creativity and sustainability came together in the most beautiful way.

Guided by Ms. Ngo Vu Nha Thy, participants discovered the art of eco-printing by using a variety of natural materials, including eucalyptus leaves, castor plant, black physic nut, daisies, and other locally sourced plants and flowers. Each carefully arranged the botanicals on a scarf, wrapped the fabric, and steamed it before unveiling the final result. As the scarves were unwrapped, unique colors and delicate botanical patterns gradually emergedโ€”each piece a one-of-a-kind creation inspired by nature.

Beyond learning a traditional craft, the workshop offered students the joy of creating something with their own hands while exploring how natural materials can be transformed into sustainable works of art. It was a meaningful reminder that creativity and environmental consciousness can go hand in hand, and that even the simplest elements of nature can leave a lasting impression.

๐Ÿƒ Every scarf told a different story, and every participant brought home not only a handmade souvenir but also a deeper appreciation for sustainable craftsmanship and Vietnam's rich natural heritage.

On July 10, our SDG Summer School participants embarked on an unforgettable journey to Cu Chi, where they experienced Vietnam's rich agricultural traditions, vibrant cuisine, and remarkable historyโ€”all in a single day.

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐ŸณThe morning began with a hands-on farming experience, where students discovered how local ingredients are cultivated and gained a deeper appreciation for the connection between agriculture, sustainability, and everyday life in Vietnam. They then rolled up their sleeves for an exciting Vietnamese cooking challenge, working in four teams to prepare and beautifully decorate three traditional Vietnamese dishes. The kitchen was filled with teamwork, creativity, friendly competition, and, of course, plenty of delicious aromas!

In the afternoon, the group stepped back in time with a visit to the legendary Cu Chi Tunnels. Through guided exploration, students learned about the historical significance of the tunnel system and experienced firsthand the remarkable underground network that played such an important role during the wartime. Exploring the tunnels gave participants a meaningful insight into the perseverance, ingenuity, and determination of the Vietnamese people. ๐Ÿ’ช

โœจFrom cultivating ingredients and sharing meals to exploring one of Vietnam's most iconic historical landmarks, every experience brought our participants one step closer to understanding not only Vietnam, but also the universal values of resilience, collaboration, and cultural appreciation.

After weeks of intensive teamwork, brainstorming, and countless effort in preparations, July 3rd marked the unforgettable Final Presentation of Project 2 of the ๐ˆ๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐ง๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐š๐ฅ ๐„๐ง๐ญ๐ซ๐ž๐ฉ๐ซ๐ž๐ง๐ž๐ฎ๐ซ๐ข๐š๐ฅ ๐‚๐ก๐š๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ž๐ง๐ ๐ž ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ”, bringing together VLU and UPEC students to showcase their fashion startup ideas built from the ground up๐Ÿคฉ

The event was held in hybrid format, with 4 esteemed judges alongside several UPEC team members joining online from France. Despite the distance, the connection was seamless โ€” every team delivered their pitches with confidence, creativity, and impressive fluency, proving that great ideas truly know no borders.

Two outstanding teams took the stage with their fashion startup concepts:
๐Ÿ‘‰ Maison Saigon โ€“ Taking the street to new heights. The team introduced premium streetwear designed for tall and big individuals, a group often underserved by mainstream fashion, with their sights set on breaking into France, Denmark, and the Netherlands.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Mesana โ€“ Your wellbeing in motion. Inspired by the phrase โ€œA healthy mind in a healthy bodyโ€, the team presented performance fabric crafted from coffee and cotton, merging sustainability with active, mindful living.

With scores incredibly close all the way to the final tally, the competition kept everyone on the edge of their seats until the very last moment. In the end, Maison Saigon emerged as the winning team, impressing the judges with their sharp business strategy and compelling storytelling. A huge congratulations also goes to Mesana for their innovative concept and outstanding teamwork throughout the challenge!

We are absolutely thrilled to look back at the incredible success of the Business Strategy & Sustainable Innovation program, a powerful collaboration between Van Lang University and UnTechEd! This special initiative brought talented international students from IIMT University, ATLAS SkillTech University, Amrita University, Vishwakarma Institute of Technology and other Indian universities straight to our campus here in Ho Chi Minh City for an intensive week of future-focused learning.

Running from June 29th to July 10th, 2026, this dynamic program challenged young minds to bridge corporate vision with real-world sustainability. Throughout the week, our global participants dove into interactive workshops, case study pitches, and deep strategic design thinking. They didn't just learn how to build businesses - they uncovered exactly how to innovate responsibly to leave a positive footprint on our environment and global economy.

We are so incredibly proud of the disruptive ideas and sustainable solutions our students came up with by the end of the week! Seeing the exchange of fresh perspectives, diverse cultural approaches, and sharp analytical skills in our classrooms was truly inspiring, proving that the future of global business is in excellent hands.

On July 8, the International Student Support Center (ISSC) had the pleasure of welcoming students from the University of Auckland (New Zealand), Cardiff University (United Kingdom), and the University of Queensland (Australia) for an immersive journey into the fascinating world of Vietnamese coffee.

The session began with an introduction to Vietnam's coffee storyโ€”from its historical roots and the rise of coffee cultivation in the Central Highlands to the unique characteristics that have made Vietnamese coffee renowned around the world. Students also explored the cultural significance of coffee in everyday Vietnamese life, discovering that in Vietnam, a cup of coffee is often much more than just a drinkโ€”it's an invitation to connect, share stories, and spend meaningful time together.

The highlight of the workshop was the hands-on experience, where everyone learned how to brew traditional Vietnamese coffee using the iconic phin filter. They then got creative by tasting their freshly brewed coffee with a variety of local ingredients, including sweetened condensed milk, avocado, yogurt, and coconut milk. To complete the authentic experience, students even enjoyed dipping bread into their coffeeโ€”a simple yet beloved Vietnamese snack.

Throughout the workshop, the room was filled with laughter, conversations, and curiosity as students exchanged stories about coffee traditions from their own countries while discovering Vietnam's unique cafรฉ culture. By the end of the session, it was clear that the true beauty of Vietnamese coffee lies not only in its bold flavor, but also in its ability to bring people together.
