Vietnam Festival of Creativity & Design VFCD 2026 takes on a new purpose – an enhanced DNA from previous editions!

Starting in 2026, VFCD will be held biennially, rather than annually.

Beyond a showcase and a series of events celebrating community creativity, this year's Festival is transforming into a "working laboratory" and a "living archive" connecting research-informed platforms with diverse practices to facilitate sharing, reflection and co-creation. It is a space where participants collectively shape VFCD into a catalyst for cultural, community and social development.

The Living Festival exhibition is not simply a place for "observation" but also active collaboration and reflection

Panel talks become a continuous exercise in critical conversation between researchers, change-makers, and the public.

A field-based journey offers a way to examine the existing environment and reflect on how it is evolving alongside the people who inhabit them within a broader context.

Exploring creative studios in their everyday contexts offers an opportunity to tap into the pulse of the city.

VFCD 2026 is committed to bringing together voices from across Southeast Asia, connecting local knowledge with regional and global contexts, right here in Ho Chi Minh City.

The sixth season of RMIT Accessibility Design Competition (ADC) returns as a 3-day hackathon, inviting university students and early-career professionals nationwide to team up and tackle real workplace barriers affecting people with disabilities.

The hackathon takes place over 3 days, during which you will:

𝟭. 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗼𝗻 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹-𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲: Receive a brief, identify key workplace barriers, develop and pitch a solution with your team.

𝟮. 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲, 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆: Explore universal design, learn AI tools (Replit, Lovable, Cursor), and apply design thinking to develop your solution.

𝟯. 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁: Test your ideas with end-user feedback, connect with and learn from mentors and industry experts.

𝟰. 𝗨𝗻𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀: Explore career-boosting opportunities with Katalon and P&G’s Dream Internship programme.

🌏 Design Across Cultures – SCD Students on Study Tour in India
Over two immersive weeks, cross-cultural collaboration took center stage as 7 of our students from Design Studies, Prof Comm, Fashion, and Game Design joined forces with peers from Nottingham Trent University (UK) and BITS Design School (India) to explore how culture, craft, and industry shape design in Mumbai and Nashik, India.

The cohort bridged background perspectives, academic disciplines, and global viewpoints through hands-on field visits and studio co-creation.

Working in mixed international teams alongside dedicated independent projects, students tackled design briefs that combined local insights with global design approaches.

Jointly supported by faculty leads from RMIT Vietnam (Ms. Ha Bui) and BITS Design School (Ms. Mansi Wadekar, Ms. Rajasi Kilor, and Prof. Chinmay), students developed projects aimed at translating shared observations into meaningful design opportunities and visual storytelling.

In the final days, teams delivered their presentations to institutional leadership, including RMIT Vice Chancellor Prof. Alec Cameron and BITS Design School Dean Ms. Nandita Abraham, who presented participation certificates to celebrate the cohort's joint achievements! 🎓✨

🎉 CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR WINNERS OF THE RMIT VIETNAM DIGITAL DESIGN & ART GRANTS 2026! 🎉

We are thrilled to celebrate the exceptional achievements of Hoàng Phạm Gia Khang and Nguyễn Thái Bảo! Both creators stand at the cutting-edge intersection of technology, art, and interdisciplinary design.

A joined exhibition of their works will be showcased this upcoming October-November! Stay tuned!

✨ Hoàng Phạm Gia Khang
Khang holds a Bachelor’s in Computer Science, focusing on IoT and Data Science. His work leverages sensors, data, and automation to create systems that observe and interact with the physical world.

Since starting in the arts as an engineer for artist Nguyễn Trinh Thi at documenta fifteen, Khang has contributed to works presented at the Thailand Biennale, Vietnam Festival of Creativity & Design, City Tết Fest, and SICF in Japan. He is the CEO of MakerLab VN, founding member & chief engineer of futile devices collective, a Specialist at VNU-HCM’s Innovation Hub, and an instructor at FPT University HCMC. He is also the author of the Arduino Handbook and Lead Organizer of Arduino Day Vietnam (2023–2025).

✨ Nguyễn Thái Bảo
Born in Hanoi, Bảo is an interdisciplinary maker who uses "making" as a vital lens to navigate history, technology, and future imagination. His dynamic work spans animation, creative coding, 3D printing, AI, and electronics—bridging fine arts, new media research, and studio design work across Hanoi and Shanghai.

Trained at the Vietnam University of Fine Arts and currently pursuing his Master’s in Technological Art at the prestigious China Academy of Art, Bảo explores how emerging technologies shape culture and how art-thinking transforms technology.
