Toward Intelligent, Adaptive, and Secure Network Infrastructures for
Future Digital Societies
Abstract:
The rapid growth of mobile networks, IoT, edge-cloud computing, and AI applications is creating new challenges for communication
infrastructures. Future networks must provide high performance,
scalability, adaptability, and security while supporting diverse devices and services. My research addresses these challenges through three complementary directions: intelligent multipath communications, programmable networking, and blockchain-enabled IoT systems. In this presentation, I first introduce multipath communication technologies and AI-assisted techniques that enable devices to efficiently utilize multiple network connections simultaneously. This work improves throughput, reliability, and latency in heterogeneous environments such as 4G, 5G, and IoT networks. Next, I present research on network softwarization through software-defined networking, network virtualization, and intelligent control mechanisms. The goal is to create flexible, user-centric network infrastructures that can dynamically optimize resource allocation, service quality, and overall network performance. Finally, I introduce scalable and secure blockchain
-enabled architectures for IoT systems. By investigating blockchain
mechanisms, designing overlay-network optimization techniques, and developing scalable architectures, this research enhances the
practicality of decentralized trust management for large-scale IoT
deployments.
Bio: Kien Nguyen received a B.E. degree in electronics and telecommunication from the Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), Vietnam, in 2004, and a Ph.D. degree in informatics from the Graduate University for Advanced Studies, Japan in 2012. Dr. Nguyen was a researcher at the National Institute of Information and Communication Technology (NICT),Japan during 2014-2018. Since 2018 he has been with Chiba University, where he is currently an associate professor. His research covers a wide range of topics in networking and distributed systems, including the Internet, the Internet of Things technologies, and distributed ledger
technologies. His research achievements have been disseminated in three patents, several IETF Internet drafts, and more than 230 publications in peer-reviewed journals and conferences. He is a senior member of IEEE and a member of IEICE, IPSJ. He also participates in IETF activities.
