Dear Staff and Students,
As we enter the rainy sea*on, we would like to remind all members of The National University of Samoa community to prioritize health and safety at all times. During this period, the increased rainfall and wet conditions can pose risks, both indoors and outdoors. Please take note of the following precautions:
1. Slippery Surfaces: Ensure you exercise caution when walking in areas that may become wet or slippery, including hallways, walkways, and parking lots. Use handrails where available and avoid running.
2. Flooding Risks: Stay updated on weather forecasts and be cautious around areas prone to flooding. Avoid crossing flooded areas, including roads and paths.
3. Turn Off Power Points: Ensure all power points are switched off when not in use, especially during heavy rain or storms. This reduces the risk of electrical hazards, including power surges or short circuits.
4. Avoid Using Electrical Tools: Refrain from using electrical tools and equipment during wet weather. The combination of moisture and electricity can create significant safety risks. Only use electrical tools if absolutely necessary and if you are certain they are safely insulated.
5. Health Precautions: The rainy sea*on can bring an increase in waterborne diseases. Practice good hygiene, wash your hands regularly, and avoid standing water to reduce the risk of illness.
6.Vehicle Safety: If driving, ensure your vehicle is equipped for wet weather conditions, and always adjust your speed accordingly to road conditions.
We appreciate your attention to these safety measures and encourage everyone to take individual responsibility for maintaining a safe environment for all. Should you have any concerns or need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact the campus health and safety office.
Thank you for your cooperation.
