The Faculty of Technical Education proudly celebrated another significant milestone as lecturers gathered to honor the graduation of 53 students who successfully completed the Samoa Apprenticeship Level III/IV Programme. This group represents the first cohort to graduate under the enhanced Apprenticeship Programme introduced in 2022.
The ceremony featured an inspiring keynote address delivered by the Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Labour, Afioga Hon. Fata Ryan Schuster, who emphasised the vital role of the programme in strengthening trade skills and supporting Samoa’s industrial and economic development. He also highlighted that the Apprenticeship Certificate is now internationally recognised—particularly in Australia and New Zealand—offering graduates broader opportunities within regional labour markets.
The Minister further acknowledged the National University of Samoa, under the Faculty of Technical Education, as the primary training provider for the various trade areas within the programme. Not forgetting the essential partnership and support of Ministry of Commerce Industry & Labour MCIL and the Samoa Qualifications Authority - SQA , who work closely with NUS FOTE to ensure the successful delivery and quality of this programme.
The Samoa Apprenticeship Scheme aims to develop a skilled, competent, and industry-ready workforce by integrating practical on-the-job training with structured theoretical learning. Through this blended approach, tradespeople in Samoa gain the knowledge, experience, and qualifications required to meet the country’s labour market demands and broader development goals.
Warm congratulations to all our graduates. Your perseverance, dedication, and commitment have brought you to this remarkable achievement. Malo lava le onosai!
