πŸ’™ A HEARTFELT THANK YOU TO PACIFIC JUSTICE OF SAMOA! πŸ’›

The National University of Samoa would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Pacific Justice of Samoa, together with Anae Arthur Anae, for delivering an informative and meaningful programme to our students on the β€œLet’s Fix NZ Quota” campaign.

Thank you for taking the time to educate our future generation about the purpose of the campaign, the challenges surrounding the New Zealand Quota Scheme, and what you are advocating for to improve opportunities for our people.

The campaign highlights the call for a fairer and more practical quota process, including the proposal for successful applicants to receive a six-month work visa to travel to New Zealand and seek employment, with the aim of addressing challenges faced by Pacific people seeking to secure work opportunities.

We appreciate your efforts to help our students understand the importance of this issue, the proposed changes, and how they may affect Samoan families and our wider Pacific communities.

πŸ™ Fa'afetai tele lava to Pacific Justice of Samoa and Anae Arthur Anae for sharing your knowledge, raising awareness, and empowering our students to become informed about the issues that matter to the future of Samoa.

We also encourage our students and the wider community to learn more about the campaign, understand its objectives, and consider supporting the petition.

πŸ’œ MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WORKSHOP – DAY 1 πŸ’œ

The National University of Samoa (NUS), through the collaboration of the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Team and Student Support Services (SSS), successfully held the first day of the Mental Health Awareness Workshop for students.

We were honoured to have Dr Epaggelia Efu, Psychiatrist from the Mental Health Department of the Ministry of Health, share his knowledge, professional expertise, and valuable insights on mental health and wellbeing.

This workshop aims to raise awareness, encourage positive coping strategies, and remind our students of the importance of looking after their mental and emotional wellbeing throughout their academic journey.

πŸ™ A heartfelt thank you to Dr Epaggelia Efu for sharing his expertise and supporting this important initiative. We also extend our sincere appreciation to all the students who participated on the first day. Thank you for your participation, engagement, and willingness to learn.

Let us continue to break the stigma surrounding mental health and build a university community where everyone feels supported, understood, and encouraged to seek help when needed.

πŸ’œ Your mental health matters. You are not alone. It is okay to ask for help.

NUMERACY TIPS FOR FINAL EXAM PREPARATION
β€’ Student Support Services (SSS)
Final exams are approaching! Take time to prepare, practise, and build your confidence in Mathematics. Remember, success comes from consistent practice, good time management, and believing in yourself.

1. Revise a little every day
Set aside 30–60 minutes daily to review your mathematics notes, formulas, worked examples, and important concepts. Avoid leaving all your revision until the night before the exam.

2. Practise, practise, practise!
Work through practice questions, past exam papers, and tutorial exercises. Practise topics such as:
β€’ Algebra and equations
β€’ Geometry and measurement
β€’ Statistics and probability
β€’ Functions and calculus, where applicable

3. Know your formulas
Create a formula sheet for revision. Understand when and how to use each formula instead of simply memorising it.

4. Use your calculator correctly
Practise using your scientific calculator, checking brackets, fractions, powers, and decimal places. Make sure you understand your calculator's functions before exam day.

5. Show all your working
Write down each step clearly. Even when you make a small mistake, correct working can help demonstrate your understanding and may earn method marks.

6. Ask for help early
Do not ignore topics you find difficult. Ask your lecturer, tutor, or classmates for help. Visit the NUS Student Support Services (SSS) Numeracy Drop-In for additional guidance and practice.
On the day of your exam
β€’ Get enough sleep and eat a healthy meal.
β€’ Arrive early and bring your student ID card.
β€’ Read every question carefully before answering.
β€’ Manage your time and answer questions you know first.
β€’ Check your calculations, signs, units, and final answers.
β€’ Stay calm, focus, and do your best.

Remember, NUS students!
You do not have to be perfect at Mathematics to succeed. Every question you practise helps you improve. Be consistent, ask for help when needed, and believe in your ability to learn.

Prepare well today. Walk into your final exams with confidence!
