The University of Makati Student Congress officially convened its third Blue Ribbon Committee public hearing on February 25, 2026, at the HPSB Multimedia Room 507.

The focus was to further investigate the alleged malversation of funds involving the University Student Council (USC), following the second hearing held last February 18.

The hearing was attended by invited resource persons, including the USC President and USC Vice President. The committee investigations will continue as findings, discussions, and thorough reviews of relevant facts progress.

SESSION RESUMED

The Blue Ribbon Committee of the UMak Student Congress will convene its Third Public Hearing concerning the alleged malversation of funds involving the University Student Council. This proceeding aims to reinforce the principles of transparency, accountability, and integrity within student governance.

Following the discussions and findings from the previous sessions, the Committee has recognized the need for additional information and clarification before reaching any final determination. In view of this, the hearing will resume to further examine the matter and ensure that all relevant facts are carefully reviewed.

IN PHOTOS | The University of Makati Student Congress officially convened its second Blue Ribbon Committee Public Hearing to investigate the alleged malversation of funds involving the University Student Council (USC) on February 18, 2026, at Multimedia Room 807 of the Health and Physical Science Building, following the first hearing last February 11, 2026.

The hearing was attended by invited resource persons, including the USC President, USC Vice President, USC Spiritual Committee Head, USC Audit and Property Custodian, and Center for Student Organization Activities (CSOA) Director, who appeared before the Committee to respond to and provide information on questions surrounding the continuation of the investigation.

The Blue Ribbon Committee of the UMak Student Congress will be conducting its Second Public Hearing regarding the alleged malversation of funds by the University Student Council. This initiative seeks to uphold transparency, accountability, and integrity within our student governance.

Upon the deliberation of the Committee during the previous session, it has been determined that further information and clarification are necessary before arriving at any conclusion. In line with this, the committee will resume the hearing to continue the inquiry and ensure that all relevant facts are thoroughly examined.

To ensure clarity and transparency, please take note of the following points:

Investigation in Aid of Legislation: This hearing is a fact-finding process intended to gather information that will help the UMak Student Congress craft better policies and safeguards for student funds.

Resource Speaker Attendance: Due to the short notice provided for the session, the attendance of invited source speakers was voluntary and not mandatory at that time.

We encourage the student body to stay informed and rely on official announcements from the UMak Student Congress for accurate information.

In line with the ongoing investigation regarding the alleged malversation of funds involving the first semester events and activities of the University Student Council, the Committee on Accountability of Student Leaders and Investigations of the University of Makati Student Congress is officially convening its 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝗯𝗯𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗲 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴.

This is an official public hearing aimed at uncovering the truth and ensuring that every student's peso is accounted for. We believe that true accountability requires an open process; therefore, we highly encourage all interested students and stakeholders to attend and witness this session firsthand.

𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝟬𝟬𝟭 — 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀

The Student Congress recognizes the seriousness of the concerns currently circulating regarding the use and management of student council funds and affirms its firm commitment to transparency, accountability, and the protection of student interests.

A preliminary meeting has already been conducted with the University Student Council (USC) and the Student Judicial Council (SJC) to raise and clarify the issues brought forward. Following this, the Student Congress has initiated a formal internal review of the matters discussed.

In line with its legislative mandate, the Student Congress is activating its investigative mechanisms, including the establishment of a Blue Ribbon Committee, to examine relevant documents, transactions, and procedures related to the issue.

Any misuse of student funds, negligence in financial responsibility, or violations of university policies will not be tolerated and will be addressed through appropriate legislative actions and recommendations.

The Student Congress urges the student body to remain responsible and to refrain from spreading unverified information while the review is ongoing. Verified updates will be released only through official Student Congress channels.

Ipinagtibay ng Student Judicial Council ang pagtatalaga sa mga bagong opisyal para sa Taong Akademiko 2025–2026 sa pamamagitan ng isang pormal na Panunumpa na ginanap noong Nobyembre 25, 2025, sa Silid Pulungan ng OVPSSCD sa ika-limang palapag ng Admin Building.

Isinagawa ang seremonya sa pangunguna ni G. Virgilio Tabbu, isang kinatawan mula sa Pamunuan ng Unibersidad, bilang pagkilala sa pananagutan ng mga opisyal na gampanan ang kanilang tungkulin nang may katapatan, katarungan, at malasakit sa kapakanan ng bawat mag-aaral.
