The MOU outlines a focused framework for cooperation across four (4) key areas:

1. Student Empowerment. Globe will provide learning workshops, seminars, and training sessions focusing on technology, innovation, and digital skills. This will equip TUP students with practical knowledge and offer real-world experience through supervised industrial training, bridging academic learning with industry demands.

2. Campus Improvement. The partnership includes initiatives to enhance the TUP campus environment. This involves collaborative mural painting projects along Ayala Boulevard and San Marcelino Street to promote student creativity, and aesthetic upgrades to student study areas, incorporating Globe branding for a more conducive learning atmosphere.

3. Superior Connectivity. A significant outcome will be the improvement of Globeโ€™s signal strength and network infrastructure within the TUP campus. This ensures better connectivity for students, faculty, and staff, facilitating access to online resources, digital platforms, and seamless communication.

4. Community Engagement. Globe Telecom will actively participate in major TUP events and student activities, fostering stronger ties with the academic community. The installation of Globe-branded materials and promotional displays will also enrich the campus environment and support brand awareness.

This partnership reflects TUP's proactive strategy to align its academic programs with industry needs. By sharing knowledge and resources, TUP and Globe Telecom aim to refine curricula, ensuring graduates are not only academically proficient but also possess the practical skills demanded by today's job market.

The University Information Technology Center (UITC) is proud to lead this initiative and looks forward to a future of impactful collaborations and transformative opportunities for the entire TUP community.

This artistic endeavor, brought to life by the talent of CAFA students and faculty, showcases the immediate impact of the partnership, fostering creativity and adding significant aesthetic value to the university's main thoroughfare. This project exemplifies the innovative community engagement and campus improvement initiatives envisioned by the MOU.

Last March 30, 2026, the Technological University of the Philippines (TUP) held its annual โ€œKwento ni Pres, โ€ led by University President Engr. Reynaldo Ramos.

This yearโ€™s session, titled โ€œLeadership in the AI Era, โ€ examined how emerging technologiesโ€” particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI)โ€”are transforming industries and reshaping the role of students as future professionals and leaders.

As industries across the global landscape continue to adopt digitization and AI, President Ramos discussed the importance of AI literacy. He encouraged students to remain discerning of issues such as misinformation, bias, and ethical concerns. He also noted that AI literacy extends beyond the use of digital tools, requiring a deeper understanding of its capabilities, limitations, and the responsibilities associated with its application.

Central to the discussion was the concept of purpose-driven leadership. President Ramos stated that leadership is not confined to titles or positions, but is reflected in oneโ€™s ability to influence others, collaborate effectively, and contribute to meaningful change. In the context of AI, this relates to ensuring that innovation balances progress with responsibility, and technology with human-centered considerations.

As part of the culmination of TUPโ€™s celebration of Womenโ€™s Month, the session also raised the issue of low female representation in male-dominated degree programs. This became a point of reflection on inclusivity, representation, and access in engineering, architecture, and other technology-driven fields, as well as the need to cultivate inclusive learning environments and strengthen support systems for women entering these disciplines. The lecture ultimately reinforced a key message: students must remain in control of this technology.

As a continuing initiative of the university, โ€œKwento ni Prezโ€ serves as a platform for dialogue, encouraging students not only to listen but also to reflect, engage, and take an active role in shaping the futureโ€”posing a continuing challenge: What kind of impact do you hope to create?

The Technological University of the Philippines (TUP), led by its President, Dr. Reynaldo P. Ramos, joined a group of higher education institutions in formalizing a collaborative initiative with the University of the Philippines Open University through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding establishing a semiconductor microcredentials consortium.

Partner institutions include Bulacan State University, City College of Angeles, Mapรบa University, the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines, the University of the Cordilleras, Mariano Marcos State University, and the Eulogio Amang Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology. Together, these institutions aim to support the development of student competencies aligned with the needs of the semiconductor and
electronics industries.

In her message, UPOU Chancellor Dr. Joane V. Serrano emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration between higher education institutions and industry partners, particularly in preparing students for emerging and highly specialized fields.

Under the agreement, UPOU will serve as the lead institution in developing and delivering microcredential courses covering semiconductor design, manufacturing, testing, and advanced electronics systems.

Partner higher education institutions may nominate qualified and high-performing students to participate in the pilot implementation of the program, subject to their respective institutional policies and guidelines.

For students, the initiative offers opportunities to engage in industry-aligned learning experiences beyond traditional classroom instruction. Those who demonstrate strong performance in the program may be considered for further training opportunities, including advanced exposure in semiconductor facilities in Taiwan, subject to applicable requirements and separate agreements governing participation.

Participating institutions will also have access to learning resources, course modules, and consortium-led activities, including seminars, workshops, and academic exchanges. These collaborative efforts aim to strengthen academic programs and support a more responsive, industry-relevant learning environment.

Through this collaboration, TUP and its partner institutions contribute to the development of a skilled and adaptable workforce, supporting the countryโ€™s growing role in the global
semiconductor landscape.
