Welcome to Centre for Applied Learning and Multimedia (CALM). CALM is one of the centres that deals directly with the teaching-learning function in UNIMAS. We provide a variety of programmes and services to staff and students to enhance the quality of both conventional and online teaching-learning experience.CALM is one of the strategic foci of the university is to achieve excellence in education
and training. The Centre for Applied Learning and Multimedia (CALM) supports this strategic focus by playing an active role to promote and cultivate excellence and innovation in university teaching through technological integration and continuous professional development opportunities.One of the strategic foci of the university is to achieve excellence in education and training. The Centre for Applied Learning and Multimedia (CALM) supports this strategic focus by playing an active role to promote and cultivate excellence and innovation in university teaching through technological integration and continuous professional development opportunities. The centre comprises five units:
(i) e-Learning Unit,
(ii) Teaching and Learning Support Unit,
(iii) Academic Training Unit,
(iv) Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Unit and
(iv) Teaching and Learning Publication Unit. These units function to
• promote innovative approaches in teaching and learning to enhance students’ engagement and learning outcomes through the use of various learning technologies. Current emphasis include campus-wide adoption of blending learning via the integration of learning management system (LMS), open courseware (OCW) and massive open online course (MOOC)

• equip all newly recruited academics with the necessary knowledge and skills in teaching and learning via a comprehensive and intensive postgraduate diploma in teaching and learning programme
• provide conducive physical learning spaces at the main teaching facilities of the university

• promote professional development opportunities through seminars, workshops and short courses to enable academics to stay abreast of the latest development and innovation in teaching and learning
• promote scholarship of teaching and learning to integrate teaching, learning and research with the intent to improve teaching practices and students’ learning in a variety of disciplines
• expand the body of knowledge about teaching and learning in higher education through the publication of bulletins and resources related to teaching and learning
