For Kenneth Rintaari, an AKU-SONAM alumnus and paediatric casualty nurse at Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi, nursing has taught him to look beyond what is immediately visible and reflect on the underlying issues affecting people’s lives.

That perspective inspired Beyond the Symptoms, a self-help book that explores the deeper issues behind the problems we often see on the surface.

From the demands of paediatric casualty to finding the courage and discipline to become an author, Kenneth’s journey offers a different perspective on where nursing can take you.

Read his story and discover the journey behind the book.

A new class, a new beginning, and a journey into nursing that is just getting started.

SONAM Uganda recently held its second White Coat Ceremony for the BScN Direct Entry Class of 2030, a special moment to celebrate the students, reflect on the journey ahead, and the nurses they are preparing to become.

Here’s a look at the moments that marked this important step in their journey.

When you spend your days in the fast-paced world of paediatric emergency care, you learn to see beyond what's immediately in front of you.

Kenneth Rintaari, a clinical nurse at the Aga Khan University Hospital Nairobi's Paediatric Accident & Emergency unit, and proud alumnus of the Aga Khan University School of Nursing and Midwifery has channelled that instinct into his debut book, "Beyond the Symptoms."

In his own words, it's a thought-provoking manual challenging readers to look past the obvious in search of deeper, more meaningful answers.

From the emergency room to the written page, Kenneth's journey is a powerful reminder that our nurses are not just caregivers, they are thinkers, writers, and leaders shaping ideas beyond the bedside.

Join us in congratulating Kenneth on this milestone. 👏
