As UWC continues to build a meaningful partnership with UVA, we are excited to see opportunities for collaboration expanding across faculties and disciplines, with several promising areas of collaboration already identified.

We look forward to strengthening this partnership and creating new opportunities for research, knowledge exchange and academic collaboration between UWC and UVA.

University of the Western Cape's DVC for Academic, Prof Vivienne Lawack hosted a delegation from ABB and the Swiss Embassy in South Africa. Their visit aimed to explore avenues for collaboration and partnership with the institution.

During their tour of the UWC campus, the delegation got to see and took a picture with "The Beginning and the End," a striking bronze sculpture by David Hlongwane. This masterpiece tells the story of a domestic worker joyously celebrating her son's graduation, resonating deeply with UWC's mission.

UWC takes pride in its commitment to serving historically marginalised groups in South Africa, who were denied access to higher education during the apartheid era, often limited to domestic work. This sculpture exemplifies the institution's ongoing dedication to inclusivity empowerment and social justice .
