UFS Faculty of Education The Faculty of Education is located on three campuses namely, Bloemfontein, South Campus and Qwaqwa.

Our vision is of a Faculty that affirms the dignity of its students, its staff and the community with which it engages, and draws on their diversity as a source of strength. It is recognised nationally and internationally for its scholarship and for its contextualised understanding of education. The Faculty visibly contributes to the social transformation of the broader society.

The Teaching Practice Directorate in the Faculty of Education proudly hosted a successful World of Work Day at the QwaQwa Campus on 22 May 2026. This important initiative created a valuable platform for education students to gain insight into the realities of the teaching profession, workplace expectations, professional conduct, and career development opportunities within the education sector.
Hosting World of Work Day is essential in equipping future teachers with the knowledge, confidence, and practical guidance needed to transition successfully from university life into the professional teaching environment. The event also encouraged students to reflect on their roles as future educators and leaders in society.

The Faculty of Education at the University of the Free State, in partnership with the National Teacher’s Union (NATU), proudly celebrated 90 school principals from KwaZulu-Natal who successfully completed the Short Learning Programme on Leading and Managing Violence-Free Schools.

The certificate ceremony, held on 7 May 2026 at the NATU Head Offices in Empangeni, highlighted the commitment of school leaders to creating safer and more supportive learning environments across South Africa. The Faculty congratulates all principals on this important achievement and remains committed to promoting educational leadership and violence-free schools.
