At Student Governance, Life and Development Unit (SGLDU) our mission is to empower students to be fully engaged in the university experience by providing transformative educational experience for students that enhance learning and development. As practitioners we act as advocates on issues, concerns, challenges related to students . We contribute to the departmental and university mission by;

loping programs and providing services that reinforce core values and offer students opportunities for personal growth, self appraisal, leadership development in order to be successful in all aspects of their lives. Encouraging and challenging students to take leadership roles where they exercise integrity, establish meaningful relationships and expand their problem solving, critical thinking, reflecting skills for personal and professional growth. Educating students to become global citizens who will seek to use their voices, talents to advocate, lead, serve both internally and externally. We encourage students to be actively involved or join student societies as it is of utmost value for their development and the future. Employers in this day and age hire and look for more than good candidates but seek for people with initiative and confidence. They look for team players and those who have taken challenges than being in the classroom all your university life. At SGLDU we have different sections with different activities or programs;
STUDENT GOVERNANCE
In student governance, we are responsible for all student matters/affairs or activities. We have the following:
Student Representative Council (SRC)
SRC operations are guided by the Constitution of the SRC. They serve students by fighting for their rights, and general welfare/services regardless of political affiliation, gender, race, colour or creed. SRC acts as a communicator between students and other university stakeholders/forums in the higher education sector. Student Parliament (SP) is the body responsible for all student policy formulation matters etc. Political structures that are currently recognized by the SRC and SDSS department

This section creates a purposeful experience for students that promote life skills, leadership and personal development while enhancing campus life. These are achieved through collaboration with students, faculties, community engagements and SDSS units to provide innovative and intentional programs, activities and services. We help students to discover their interests, leadership potential through involvement in general activities in this section. We develop your values, skills, goals through leadership workshops. We deliver by using students’ gifts, talents to play an active role within the university and outside. We have the following developmental societies:
