RideLink

RideLink RideLink Carpooling aims to decrease single-person car usage at UCT, enabling you to get to campus with minimal impact on your pocket and the environment

Ridelink is a website which allows students at the University of Cape Town to decrease their carbon emissions and save cash by the most convenient method possible - sharing lifts to campus.

Think about it; a lot of UCT students drive to campus every day. Parking is a nightmare, so is rush hour traffic. Aren’t there just too many cars on the road and on campus? If only you knew that guy that started his lectures the same time as you, you could share a lift with him and reduce the number of cars. But you don’t, and stalking people’s timetables is a bit creepy. Ridelink acts like a mutual friend who conveniently matches you up with people who live close to you and/or are going to campus at the same time! It’s a clever site that allows you to search and ask for lifts from other students and staff. Once you find someone similar, you can form a carpool with them. It’s completely up to you how you would like to share petrol costs etc – Ridelink just does the introducing. PS there’s space on the website to share if someone is a particularly bad driver and links to pages – so you can check people out too! Sign up today – the website is safe, convenient and it’s on Vula, so there’ll be no dodgy non-UCT people offering to take you down a dark ally. Let’s share lifts and make a difference to the environment and our pockets. Ridelink: Driving Change.
