Target Group:
Seafarers employed or engaged in the fishing sector on
board ship.
Objective:
The objective of familiarization training is to ensure
that seafarers who are going to work on a ship for
the first time, know basic personal safety information
that may save their lives and fellow crew members in
the event of an emergency
Introduction:
This learning opportunity is designed for the training of
seafarers in the fishing sector wishing to pursue a career at
sea. This learning opportunity is designed in such a
way as to achieve the Survival at Sea competencies as
described in the STCW and SAMSA Codes respectively.
Outline:
•Comply with Emergency Procedures
•Knowledge and observation of safe working practices
•Survival Procedures
•Medical Procedures
Prerequisites:
ABET Literacy
Medically fit for sea
Duration:
2 Days
Completion Exit level:
The competent learner will be able to perform the role
of a crew member onboard a vessel.
Assessment:
Written assessment and Practical evaluation
Certification: Certificate of Competence
STCW ref. A-VI/I
Validity Non expiry date
