Stephan de Beer is an urbanist theologian, Professor of Practical Theology at the University of Pretoria, and Director of the Centre for Faith and Community. His work fuses research, teaching, activism and action with a focus on theology in the African city, housing justice, and the most marginalised urban communities.

The Centre for Faith and Community envisions healthy communities through evidence-based, change-making theology, working with partners across 14 African cities and nearly 200 non-profit and faith-based organisations.
