Time spent at events like the ECR House & Garden Show gives our students the chance to watch, learn from and work alongside some of South Africa’s leading chefs and industry personalities, gaining insight that simply can’t be taught from a textbook.

Any industry experience is about seeing the pace, the pressure, the teamwork and the creativity of the industry up close, while building confidence and connections along the way. Becoming a great chef isn’t just about learning the skills. It’s about getting out there and putting them into practice.

Recipes can be read, videos can be watched but confidence in the kitchen comes from getting your hands dirty, making mistakes, receiving feedback, and doing it all again. There's simply no substitute for practical training as our students clearly saw in their cake class.

After a lot of patience and perseverance, they make great progress!

School visits are one of our highlights because we can only explain so much about hospitality. The best way to understand it is to experience it from the frontlines. 🔥
We recently welcomed the learners from Eshowe High to Caraway, where they explored our campus, learnt more about our curriculum and got a taste of student life.
And then? We got stuck in! 🍛 From prep to plating, the students worked together to create a delicious butter chicken curry.

Hands-on, interactive and, of course, delicious. The best way to discover your passion is to get in the kitchen and give it a try.
