SASCO DURBAN CENTRAL REGION

The South African Students Congress Durban Central region wishes to convey its message of gratitude and appreciation for the re-appointment of the eThekwini regional interim structure, the RCPC which we hope to establish good and cordial working relations into the future.
The interrelationship of the congress youth league with other mass democratic movement formations plays a pivotal role towards the re- establishment of our historical mission as the progressive wing of the left, and into achieving the mission and vision of the freedom charter, and the national democratic revolution.
The revolutionary gigantic student’s movement, SASCO acknowledges the difficulties it had faced in the past in building formidable relations with the congress youth league, but however, as a revolutionary movement we shall dare not to dwell on the blame theories and finger pointing as it is a futile and fruitless exercise, but rather focus on a better future.
It is Thomas Sankara who remains one of our touch bearers as the youth, academics and revolutionaries of today as he was affectionately passionate about the youth and women in the revolution and indeed, we take from the lessons he had left behind in advancing the revolution and struggle and as the revolutionary formations of the mass democratic revolution, we shall dare to invent the future as he was once quoted.
We further wish to warn against the infiltration and control of this revolutionary youth formation by the old folk, whose struggle is to rather exploit the notion, views and ideas of the youth formation to those of their personal interest and which are divorced from the struggles of young people.
Let us draw lessons from history and allow history to be the best teacher because those who fail to learn from history are bound to perish in the periphery of the unknown future. As we prepare for the national elections to be held in 2024, let us be diligent. Let us remember the words of the late President Oliver Tambo, when he warned us about the wedge driver and his undesired characteristics.
