Marevol Lab MAREVOL(Marine Evolution) laboratory is based at the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

We approach research topics such as conservation, ecology and taxonomy of the marine realm from an evolutionary perspective; primarily through the use of genetic techniques. Through the use of established and novel genetic techniques, we are able to determine genetic relationships between organisms, based on accumulated differences within their DNA. These forms of data allow scientists to develop

indices of relatedness, e/immigration, interbreeding, population growth, diversity and more. This allows important insights into the nature and ecology of the species being studied.
