LC Johnson Technical College LC Johnson Technical College was an apartheid-era Vocational Education and Training Institute for the Coloured people of Durban.

It operated under appalling conditions with limited government funding and few resources. In spite of these very challenging conditions, the team of dedicated lecturers delivered technical training of the highest caliber and produced some of the best results in the country. Many of the graduates of this humble institute now ply their expertise overseas and are ranked leading tradesmen and technici

ans. Known by the many apprentices who passed through the institute, as a "trade school", because of the trades skills focus, LC Johnson delivered skills training and education in electrical, welding, boiler making, building, auto electrical, electronics, motor and diesel, civil, panel beating, hairdressing and later developed a campus in Umbilo which delivered commercial programs.
