Buffalo City TVET College continues to strengthen its commitment to Expanded Access through the implementation of blended learning.

Key preparations are underway, including uploading student email addresses, preparing timetables and loading learning modules to improve communication and access to learning.

Ms. Warmberg, SASTEP 1 Lead, emphasised the importance of champions sharing knowledge and leading by example. As she reminds us: โ€œYou choose what you do with the knowledge you gain.โ€

With five subjects scheduled to go live in January and six capacitation sessions planned, the College is building the capacity needed to support this transformation.

Buffalo City TVET College successfully hosted a First Aid Level 2 Training at the East London Campus Hall from 25 to 27 August 2026.

The three-day training was attended by staff across various departments, including support staff, lecturers and Campus Managers. The training is particularly important for Student Support Services (SSS) officials, who play a vital role in supporting students and staff during emergencies.

The First Aid Level 2 training equipped officials with basic first-aid skills and knowledge to respond appropriately to minor incidents and emergencies that may occur on campus.

The training was practical, informative and relevant, providing staff members with valuable skills that can contribute to creating a safer environment for both staff and students.

Minimum admission requirements
Grade 10, 11, failed grade 12 or National Certificate Vocational (NCV) at NQF Level 3

Duration:
3 years

Purpose

This qualification is to prepare a learner to operate as a carpenter.
Carpenters construct, erect, strip, install, renovate and repair structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, panelling, timber and steel formwork and access materials.

A qualified learner will be able to:

1. Determine materials, dimensions required and setting out and preparing a work area on a construction site.
2. Construct, erect, install and maintain structures on work area and building sites.
3. Fit, assemble and alter internal and external fixtures of buildings such as walls, doors, window frames, fascia boards and panelling.
