If you have an NQF6 Diploma in a field related to journalism, and you've spent a number of years working in the media industry, you may qualify for RPL admission to the NQF8 PDMM.

To apply, please email the following documents to [email protected] by 20 June 2026 and use the subject line "RPL Application":

- A transcript of your NQF6 qualifications.
- Certificates of other short courses relevant to media management.
- Two references from media and communications industry leaders who you have worked closely with.
- A list of your industry and/or community service awards and evidence of these.
- A copy of your ID document.
- An application letter that sets out the number of years you have worked in the media and communications industry, your major achievements in the industry (for example, impactful investigative articles that you've written, or major communications campaigns that you've run), a summary of leadership roles that you've played in the industry (including management and mentoring), your involvement in any broader community engagement projects, and your reason for wanting to enter the PDMM programme.

Honouring the life and legacy of Maria McCloy 🕊️

As a Rhodes JMS alumna, storyteller and cultural force, Maria reshaped South African media, fashion, and design. She used her voice to celebrate African identity and create spaces where our stories could be seen, heard, and celebrated globally.

She reminded us to tell stories boldly and create without fear. Her impact lives on in every journalist, creative, and changemaker she inspired.

We extend our deepest condolences to Maria’s family, friends, and all who were touched by her brilliance.

Rest in power, Maria McCloy. Your legacy endures.
