Cold water, powerful message 💧✨The Wits Students’ Pathology Society Wits Students' Pathology Society took on the Ice Bucket Challenge in support of mental health awareness. This initiative highlighted the importance of collective action, support, and community engagement in addressing mental health challenges. By combining creativity with advocacy, the event underscored that every effort, no matter how symbolic, contributes to breaking stigma and fostering resilience. Every splash was a reminder that mental health matters, and every drop counts in breaking stigma and building support.

In Support of Mental Health Awareness, the Wits Students' Pathology Society is hosting an ice bucket challenge where attendees will witness Professor Kana, Dr Phukubje & Dr Bacci take on the challenge. All you have to do is donate any amount, as little as R10, towards the Mental Health Awareness initiatives through SADAG to take part and attend the Ice Bucket Challenge.

"Bringing meaning to masses: Biomedical mass spectrometry in health and disease research"
While mass spectrometry is transforming health and disease research across much of the developed world, its application in South African contexts is limited. This gap is driven by inadequate infrastructure, a lack of specialised expertise, and limited awareness of the technology's potential in biomedical and clinical research. In this lecture, Professor Sooraj Baijnath explores the growing role of biomedical mass spectrometry in advancing our understanding of health and disease, highlighting current applications at the University of the Witwatersrand. He will also discuss emerging opportunities and future directions for expanding the impact of mass spectrometry research in South Africa and beyond.
