HAPPENING NOW: One-day symposium to commemorate the work and lives of Harold and AnnMarie Wolpe, hosted by the Wits School of Governance.

Speakers include Justice Dumisa Ntsebeza, Professor Robert van Niekerk, Professor Elaine Unterhalter, Emeritus Professor Fred Hendricks, Ms Thandiwe Matthews, Professor Michael Burawoy, Ms Michal Singer, Ms Peta Wolpe, Dr Monica Hendricks, Justice Albie Sachs and Ms Alicia Chamaille.

The event started this morning at 9am until 5pm at the Smart Classroom, Albert Wessels Building, Parktown Management Campus.

Stacey-Lee Bolon is President of Convocation, the statutory body that represents graduates and academic staff in the affairs of the University of the Witwatersrand. As the youngest person to have ever held this position, Stacey’s four-year term of office began on 1 August 2019.

She is an Industrial Psychologist and has earned several degrees from Wits: BA in Human Movement Science (2007), BA Hons in General Psychology (2008), BA Hons in Industrial Psychology (2009), and MA in Industrial Psychology (2010).

She has vast experience within Financial Services, inclusive of Strategic Analytics, Innovation, and Billing and Pricing; as well as within the startup sector as an Angel Investor to Jobox, Non-Executive Director of an Early Childhood Education (ECD) technology start-up called Early is Best; and as former Director of Venture Network, a registered non-profit company which connects the SA startup ecosystem.

In her role as President of Convocation, Stacey leads the executive team of Convocation and is a member of Council (the governing body of the University). Stacey has introduced a Partnership and Collaboration directive within the Convocation Exco in order to best leverage the collective power of the Exco network.

📢Wits COVID-19 Vaccination and Testing Site Opens Today!
The Wits COVID-19 Vaccination and Testing Site opens today, 1 February 2022 in the Wits Multipurpose Sports Hall on the Braamfontein East Campus (next to the swimming pool). It will run from 08:00 – 15:45 on weekdays. You do not need to make a booking – just walk in with your identity document or passport and get vaccinated. Services include free vaccinations including boosters, COVID-19 antigen tests, and a Help Desk.
