******* A message from your 2018 Executive Committee*****
We are in the final quarter of Wits Rethinking Economics for Africa's first academic year, and are overjoyed and proud of how much our movement has been able to accomplish in this time!
From our very first event, an incredible panel discussion on free education, to our critical thinking workshop, guest lecture interrogating neoclassical assumptions, and the awe-inspiring Inaugural REFA Festival 2018, that saw 492 internationally acclaimed economists, founding members of Rethinking Economics' home group in the UK, members of the public and civil society, and students that we sponsored from all over the country attend a full 2-day festival of alternative and pluralist economic discourse, the success that we have built together is momentous.
A REFA group at the University of Cape Town has already been formed, and other universities across the country have committed to follow as we grow the movement nationally, The seeds have truly been planted for a legacy of pluralistic, progressive, and relevant economics in our curriculum.
As they executive committee of 2018, we recognise not only how much has been achieved, but the vitality of continuing the work which is just at its beginning.
That is why we call on our members who feel that they are passionate, skilled leaders with vision and commitment to a better economy for all to apply for a position in the 2019 Wits REFA Executive Committee and carry the movement forward!
Our AGM will be held on Thursday 4th October 2018
