IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL 4th YEAR ENGINEERING STUDENTS IN THE FACULTY OF ENGINEERING AND BUILT ENVIRONMENT
Examination results will be published at 16:00 on 20 November 2013
- on the notice boards on the lower ground floor on the North side of the Chamber of Mines building
- on the Wits web site www.wits.ac.za from the 21st November
- will be e-mailed to your Wits e-mail address
- will be available on the student portal
- will be available from 083 123 3333
Please ensure that all outstanding fees are paid by 25 October 2013 in order to obtain your results.
If your overall result decision is:
Q or QD
- Congratulations – you have qualified for your degree and graduation will be on the
11th December at 10:00 in the Great Hall.
QW
- you have qualified for your degree but the Faculty is waiting for clearance from HESA
(Foreign conditional exemption, immigrants exemption etc).

- you have been granted a supplementary or deferred examination.
- please contact your School for information as to when the supplementary/deferred examinations will be written
- the supplementary examination fee is R 1 490 per supplementary exam written
- if you owe fees, only the courses in which you have been granted the
supplementary/deferred examination will be published.
RET/MBR
- if you have passed all your courses, you may not have completed all the vac work, practical
training etc required for the degree and must consult your school urgently.
- if you have not passed all your courses, you are required reregister in 2014 and further
information on registration will be provided.
- the upfront payment in 2014 is R 9340.
- late registration is not permitted, except in very exceptional circumstances, and then only with
the written approval of the Dean in which instance a late registration fee is not payable.
MRNM
- you have failed to meet the minimum requirements of study.
- should you wish to renew your registration in 2014, you will be required to submit an appeal
to the Faculty Readmissions Committee on the prescribed form.
- appeals must be submitted to the Faculty Office by 16:00 on 20 December 2013. This overall
decision will be published / or given to you even if you owe fees, although no individual course
results will be given.
- appeals submitted after the closing date MUST be accompanied by a letter addressed to the
Dean, giving reasons for the late appeal and will only be considered if there are convincing
reasons for the late submission. Not receiving your results in time to appeal is NOT
considered a convincing reason.
