We’re proud to share that Professor Moyra Keane recently co-presented a paper at the International Association for the Advancement of Curriculum Studies Conference, held at the Mauritius Institute of Education from 24–27 June 2025.

Co-authored with Professors Kasturi Behari-Leak, Labby Ramrathan, and Michael Samuel, the paper was titled: “Reimagining the PhD Curriculum in the Post/Anthropocene: Entanglements with Posthumanism, AI, and the ‘Thick Now’.”

It offers an invitation to rethink how we design, teach and supervise research in times of rapid ecological, technological and epistemological change. These ongoing conversations continue to inform ThornTree’s approach to supporting both researchers and supervisors in times of disruption and transition.

Welcome to ThornTree Academic Coaching, Facilitation & Mentoring

Established in 2015, ThornTree Coaching, Facilitation & Mentoring was established by two professors with a passion for helping people reach their full potential. Having enjoyed successful academic careers in the medical science and education respectively, Professors Ahmed Wadee (retired) and Moyra Keane noticed an absence of coaching and mentorship informed by expertise and empathy. Drawing on their experience as PhD supervisors, researchers and teachers, they have become leaders in helping individuals and teams identify and realise their academic and life aspirations.

With a focus on academic rigour, creativity, research-informed strategies and a context-relevant perspective, ThornTree has facilitated workshops with institutions, organisations and companies that have allowed teams to learn and grow on their own terms. In addition, having worked in the areas of teaching, facilitation, management, and academic development for a number of years, ThornTree has made a significant impact on the future of the higher education landscape, playing a meaningful role in fostering a culture of leaders and learners.
