Dr Lwazi Manzi’s family sent her to school to become a doctor, but gave her a big yoke to carry and to return the favour the country did for her by educating her. They told her that they expected her to one day serve her country at the highest level possible. Today, she is head of secretariat in the African Union Commission on Africa’s COVID-19 Response, working for President Cyril Ramaphosa. Leadership editor, Dr JJ Tabane, spoke to this ‘Young, Gifted, and Black’ dynamite about her journey towards fulfilling her family’s expectations for her to serve.
