Wits ChemSoc

Wits ChemSoc ChemSoc is an academically focused society run by a group of students who are passionate about chemistry.

Our aims are to provide undergraduates with academic assistance as well as to expose them to the vast and interesting field of chemistry. Our aims for postgraduates and staff are to provide a social setting for people involved in the different facets of the chemistry. This is to allow communication between the departments and exposure of individuals to the different research occurring within the S

chool. We provide extra tutorials for the undergraduates that take place before tests and exams. For all members; we organize outings to industry in order to see how chemistry is applied in the field. We have a career day which is coupled with speeches from people working within the industry at present. Social events such as the opening event, and a few more that we are planning for this year.

Wits ChemSoc presents the 1st of our monthly colloquia! Wits ChemSoc Monthly Colloquium is an event that brings speakers from different institutions and diverse fields of research to come and present their cutting edge research with a diverse audience in the auditorium (room C312) of the School of Chemistry, University of the Witwatersrand, every last Friday of every month at 14h00. Please see the attached flyer! This event is part of our fund raising initiative in order to expand our assistance to more undergraduate students majoring or taking chemistry as a subject (this includes Medicine, Health Sciences, Geology, Physics, Engineering, and Biology) in a form of tutorials. Come join us and make a difference in a student's life!

We will be having a Sign up THIS week in the Chemistry Building Foyer. We Will be there from about 9 am.
The fees are:
First Years full year option: R200
First years half year option: R100 (excludes membership gift)
Second Years R170
Third Years R150
Also, note that you can pay the first R100 during sign up and the rest of the money before your first tutorial.
