As we commemorate Youth Month, the College of Business and Economics proudly celebrates Ms Kesaobaka Mmelesi, whose journey reflects the talent, excellence, and impact nurtured at the College if Business and Economics.
Ms Mmelesi is a researcher and lecturer in the School of Economics, as well as a dedicated PhD candidate. With more than nine years of experience in economic research and additional experience in teaching and learning, she represents the power of education in shaping future leaders, researchers, and change-makers.
Her expertise spans academic research, survey data collection and analysis, as well as monitoring and evaluation. She has also demonstrated strong leadership abilities through her role as Coordinator for Peer Mentoring and previously as Marketing Coordinator for the School of Economics.Her research interests include innovation, environmental and climate resilience, development economics, international trade, labour economics, and monetary economics all areas that contribute meaningfully to addressing societal and economic challenges.
In 2015, she received a Certificate of Academic Excellence for her Master’s degree in Economics, highlighting her commitment to academic achievement and lifelong learning.
Through academics like Ms Mmelesi, the College continues to demonstrate the importance of education in empowering young people, unlocking potential, and producing graduates and scholars who contribute to research, development, and transformation in society.
