Media Statement
The Student Representative Council of 2018/19 would like to take this opportunity to encourage all registered students of Sol Plaatje University to take part in the upcoming SRC election. The SRC would like students to take control on appointing those who will govern the institution as this is an important task and great responsibility.

Students are fully encouraged to use their right to vote, as this is their voice on student issues. Institutions need leaders and we must elect those we believe in. this can only be done if all students take part and vote.

We would further like to congratulate all candidates who made it to the final list for SRC elections. We wish everyone part taking in this election best of luck. Let this be a fair and democratic process, we remind you all that this is just a temporary phase after the elections we still have to coexist, so in our campaigning we call for civil behaviour as we are in an academic institution lets practice the values and principles of this institution.

The SRC would like to extend its gratitude to all first year students for making the Mid year Orientation a success through their attendance. We truly appreciate the time you took off your busy Saturdays to attend the orientation and we hope and trust that it was fruitful to all.
Big ups to student affairs team for the hard work put in to organise this orientation.
We further would like to thank all guests that came through to part take in this wonderful orientation.

Dear SPU Community
We as the SRC would like to welcome back all students to Sol Plaatje University, as we start the second semester tomorrow we wish every student luck with this very short semester. Let's use every second for our academical excellence, "we prepare for tomorrow today".

We would further like to extend our wishes of good luck to all final year students from the school of education as they will be starting with their lengthy six weeks school visits. The pressure is on but we know that you shall conquer all and come out on top.

We would like to thank all the students who availed themselves to attend and support the Mere family yesterday. We also know that those who couldn't make it were with us in spirit yesterday and we thank them to. To the University management for attending the funeral we say thank you, your presence was a clear sign that students matter at SPU we thank the DVC, head of school of education, all senior lecturers of the school of education, the senior manager of student affairs and lecturers of the school of humanities also not forgetting the support staff for the love and support. The Mere family surely saw how much their child meant to us all.

Thank you all, we will continue to remember Thato Stolla Mere.

Saturday (18/05/2019)
The Open Day was postponed but Some schools didn't receive the information however this didn't stop the SRC from engaging the learners and providing them with information.
The President of the SRC Thabo Moilwa welcomed the school to the university and introduced his SRC and gave a brief description of the University.
Kopano Sebe the Transformation Officer gave the learners a detailed break down of the Courses offered and the requirements of entry.

Itumeleng Senye The Spokes Person gave a brief description of the importance of Funding and applying early and the different bursaries available which they can apply for.

Pelonomi Itumeleng The legal officer who is also the Governor of Moroka Res gave a brief description of the different Residences we have.

Tebogo Takane The Sports Officer gave a detailed explanation of the live of sports at the University he also further encouraged learners to engage in Sports.

Borniface Ralokwakweng the Project officer, gave a summary of the importance of learning and encouraged learners to study hard.

Kgomotso high School learners were taken on a tour to view the facilities of the University.

The President further motivated learners to apply now to study at SPU!
