Fezile Dabi District Teacher Development Centre (DTDC) is situated at Kroonstad (Moqhaka Municipality) in the Fezile Dabi Education District- Free State Province. The intent of the centre is to serve as a hub of local support for continuing professional development of teachers. Since 2003 until 2012 the centre has been operating as Education Resource Centre (ERC). In 2013 the centre was transforme

d into District Teacher Development Centre in response to the Integrated Strategic Planning Framework for Teacher Education and Development in South Africa: 2011-2025- together taking responsibility for teacher education and development. There is improved collaboration and cohesion with Curriculum, Government and Management, Inclusive Education, other sections in the district and broad stakeholders in a variety of activities and programmes to enhance teacher practices and professionalism. Currently the centre is servicing all 227 schools in the district depending on the identified needs; the furthest is approximately 250km. There are however 59 schools which are within reach of the centre; the radius of the furthest of these is 75 km. Of the 227 schools 74 of them are called Public Schools on Private Property (PSPP) and the two mobile libraries service all these schools. A variety of communication platforms are used to carry out the message to our clients and stakeholders; these include Advocacy sessions, activity programmes, brochures, meetings, quarterly newsletters and social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Whats app, Vodacom Digital Classroom and so on.

Today marks the closing of the second term for the Schools. DTDC wishes all the teachers peaceful and enjoyable rest during this recession, taking into consideration that some of the teachers will still be working. We want to encourage all NTA candidates to use this time to prepare their presentations. The 2017 NTA booklet and forms have been sent to schools, ensure that nomination forms are returned to DTDC on or before 24 July 2017. Remember "Success is about dedication. You may not be where you want to be or do what you want to do when you're on the journey. But you've got to be willing to have vision and foresight that leads you to an incredible end". Usher
