Fezile Dabi District Teacher Development Centre (DTDC) is situated at Kroonstad (Moqhaka Municipality) in the Fezile Dabi Education District- Free State Province. The intent of the centre is to serve as a hub of local support for continuing professional development of teachers. Since 2003 until 2012 the centre has been operating as Education Resource Centre (ERC). In 2013 the centre was transforme
d into District Teacher Development Centre in response to the Integrated Strategic Planning Framework for Teacher Education and Development in South Africa: 2011-2025- together taking responsibility for teacher education and development. There is improved collaboration and cohesion with Curriculum, Government and Management, Inclusive Education, other sections in the district and broad stakeholders in a variety of activities and programmes to enhance teacher practices and professionalism. Currently the centre is servicing all 227 schools in the district depending on the identified needs; the furthest is approximately 250km. There are however 59 schools which are within reach of the centre; the radius of the furthest of these is 75 km. Of the 227 schools 74 of them are called Public Schools on Private Property (PSPP) and the two mobile libraries service all these schools. A variety of communication platforms are used to carry out the message to our clients and stakeholders; these include Advocacy sessions, activity programmes, brochures, meetings, quarterly newsletters and social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Whats app, Vodacom Digital Classroom and so on.

To coordinate and provide quality teacher development programmes based on the legislative mandate. To provide access to resources to support the implementation of CAPS. To motivate learning and teaching through career guidance services.
