On 16 May 2026, we proudly opened our doors to prospective students and families for a vibrant, welcoming Open Day experience - and the energy on campus said it all!

From the moment guests arrived, they were met with friendly faces, expert guidance, and true West Rand hospitality (yes, that included coffee, tea, and biscuits ☕🍪).

Visitors enjoyed guided campus tours, explored our facilities, and connected with experienced facilitators who shared valuable insight into our programmes, career pathways, and what life at UniCollege is really like.

Learning went beyond the screen this week!🚦

After just 10 weeks, our AI-Native Full-Stack Developer students took their code into the real world - literally.
Using the Raspberry Pi 500 (a full computer built into a keyboard), students spent four days transforming theory into action by building a fully functioning pedestrian crossing system.

From LEDs wired as opposing traffic lights, to a push-button walk signal and an audible buzzer (just like the real crossings across the country), our students watched their code come to life before their very eyes! 🔴🟢🔊

But this wasn’t just a hardware exercise: it was a moment where everything they've been working on for the past 10 weeks came together.

From learning basic typing, Git, and Python > To building websites with Flask > To creating REST APIs that power modern apps >
And now - wiring those same Python skills into real hardware!

But it doesn't stop there. Next week, it all connects:
📡 Sensors on the Pi
🌡️ Live temperature data
🔗 Sent through student-built APIs
📊 Displayed on custom web dashboards

On Friday, 08 May, we had the perfect close to an unforgettable Spirit Week at UniCollege!
Our campus hosted a series of impactful Life Skills Workshops, equipping students with practical knowledge, confidence, and real-world insight - followed by a relaxed student braai 🔥🤍

Our First Year students gained valuable tools through sessions on:

Spirit Week Wrap Up 🎉

We ended Spirit Week the only way we know how - with energy, creativity, and serious campus spirit! We wrapped up on a high note with our favourite themed day… Twin Day! 👯✨

From coordinated outfits to creative matching concepts, our students and staff showed up ready to twin, laugh, and make memories together. The campus was filled with friendship, fun, and photo-worthy moments around every corner. 💛

Think Outside the Bag!🚫🎒

Day 4 of Spirit Week took creativity to a whole new level at UniCollege!
The challenge was simple - no backpacks allowed.
Bring anything else instead… and wow, did our campus deliver! 👏😄

From mini trolleys and storage boxes to unexpected (and hilarious) alternatives - even a fridge! - our students, staff, and facilitators fully understood the assignment. The campus was buzzing with laughter, creativity, and unforgettable moments all day long.

With the theme “Think Outside the Bag”, everyone was encouraged to step out of the ordinary, get imaginative, and most importantly, have fun together as a campus community.

The participation and energy made this one of the most entertaining days of Spirit Week - and a definite fan favourite! 🎉✨
