Harmony Red Brangus Stud

Harmony Red Brangus Stud Harmony Red Brangus Stud is the oldest Red Herd in South Africa with the latest genetics. Our cattle These Original cattle were black.

In 1963 my father, Raymond Green, together with my uncle, Alister Tedder, founded the Brangus breed in South Africa. Whilst studying at University in the late seventies, I decided to cross Red Brahman with Red Angus. This formed the basis of my stud together with some of my commercial cows which I upgraded. Both herds are run on the same basis, often in the same group, as I believe a cow should on

ly be called a stud cow if she performs in a commercial environment. My Cattle are run in large herds using the Venter-Drewes veld management system. DNA profiling has enabled me to identify the herd sires in a multi-sire commercial environment. I am attempting to breed cattle free of genetic faults. All calves from cows that have calving difficulties or bad udders are tagged separately and sold for slaughter. Bulls for sale have been screened twice by Erwin Church and Gary Trethewey. Registered bulls have also been screened by John Baxter, an accomplished stock man. All bulls have been vaccinated for Anthrax, Vibrio, RVF, Botulism and injected with Ultra Choice. All bulls have been tested negative for Trichomoniasis.

KZN Brangus: Built in Tough Times

In uncertain seasons, strong cattlemen don’t retreat — they refine, invest, and move forward together. That is exactly what KZN Brangus has done.

In 2025 alone, our breeders offered well over 270 bulls through club, on-farm, and production sales across the province — from small family operations to large-scale studs. Add to that 10 KZN-bred bulls at the Brangus National Sale, and it is clear: KZN Brangus is not only present, it is relevant on a national stage.

That national relevance was reinforced when a KZN-bred cow was crowned Supreme Champion Female at the National Sale, a result that speaks directly to the depth, balance, and functionality of our breeding programs — not just headline bulls, but complete, profitable cattle.

What truly matters is not just numbers, but confidence. Across these sales, Brangus bulls consistently averaged R48,000 to R90,000, in a market where buyers are cautious and decisions are hard-earned. That tells a powerful story — commercial producers trust Brangus, and they trust the breeders behind the brand.

The same confidence is reflected in the strong demand for KZN-bred females, with well over 500 sold through production sales and at Nationals, reinforcing long-term belief in our genetics, fertility, and adaptability.

Performance does not stop at the sale ring. Across four major fat stock shows held around the province, KZN Brangus members have collectively won over 50 different categories — clear, independent proof that our cattle deliver where it matters most: growth, carcass quality, efficiency, and consistency under commercial conditions.

That belief was further recognised at a national level, with Keeversfontein Brangus being awarded Brangus Breeder of the Year — a fitting acknowledgement of the standards, consistency, and professionalism coming out of KZN.

Just as importantly, KZN Brangus is a club that invests in the future. Our members continue to bring in new genetics at the highest level — securing:
• the top two bulls from the Fairbridge Production Sale
• the top two bulls from the Bottlegat Family Sale
• the top two bulls from The Brangus Sale in Swartberg
• retaining the two best KB bulls in the province
• and the top bull from the Malherbe-Roberts Sale

At the same time, KZN breeders are pushing the envelope technologically, with the use of embryo transfer and large-scale artificial insemination programs. Collectively, close to 2,000 cows are AI’d annually using the very best genetics available on the market — a clear commitment to accelerating genetic progress, consistency, and long-term profitability.

This is not survival thinking — this is growth thinking.

KZN Brangus is built on resilience, disciplined breeding, and a shared belief that quality always finds a market. We are not waiting for better times — we are building them.

For buyers, breeders, and the next generation coming through, the message is simple:
KZN Brangus is strong, progressive, and here to lead .
