The History of Sinamay

The art of making sinamay hats has been around for a long time, with origins in the Philippines. Sinamay is made from a type of palm tree called paja which grows in abundance in the Philippines. The process starts by stripping the leaves off of the paja and then boiling it until it's soft enough to be plaited into strands. The strands are then twisted together to form a strong, durable material that can be used to make hats and other items.
